Kathleen- yes! You are so right. The days that we could keep them safe in our arms were the best. Although I do savor some of the young adult moments, like the series of texts I got from my DS yesterday, as the news broke. (My school is similar, but an hour away). It went some thing like this "Just heard the news, are you on lockdown?" (No) "Do you feel safe there?" (Yes, sort of. I deal with crazy people every day, but none that bad.) then "Why don't you just go home!" LOL. No problem getting to the airport, it is only 8 minutes away from the house.
