Good Evening from sunny Penn's Woods,

Received an email this morning from LLB that he is 'safe and sound' in San Francisco. I always appreciate receiving those emails, texts, phone calls when the sons have been on the road. He said that he is looking forward to telling us all about the trip so it sounds like they had a good time. His friends are staying until Sat. From the sounds of it, he will be working and they will tour SF but he will hang out with them in the evenings and then on the 4th of July take them to the East Bay. He was suprised to arrive and find out about the transit strike.

Helen Happy to have been able to help. It usually takes about an hour for ebay to process. Also don't forget that if you go in to revise anything at all on an item on sale it voids the sale. I don't know if you use double categories for you store but I do. For instance I have the store category of Cookbooks and then one called Hobbies/Sports. When I list a cookbook, I list it in both. If I put the latter on sale, then all the cookbooks go on sale too. Another thing that I have recently started to do is to break my larger categories into two or three. Right now I have that with cookbooks and Fine Bindings/Leather. I have a large number of Heritage Press books: some are from late last summer and others are from this spring. When I run the sales I have them labeled as A and B. The A are the older ones and will go on a 15% discount before I put the B ones on 15%. Of course, you have to watch the date of when one is soon ending so that you can get the other sub-set on sale so that the two don't merge. I've found it very help also with the cookbooks.

carol (bookdelle) I am so glad that Suzanne found another position! I remember you saying that her contract was not renewed. It sounds as if she will be closer to you. Oh I just checked out the web site of the college. Looks great and I see that it is in the area where bancheebabe lives.

mysteryhorse & carol (bookdelle) hmmm it sounds as if I won't be getting my check until the 4th Wednesday of the month. My birthday is Sept. 23 and when I filed last Monday it said that I would be eligible on Oct 20.

I knew approx. how much I would be receiving based on the statement that everyone receives every other year (or is it every year?) but the site gives you the exact amount you will receive. Mine was a wee bit higher than I expected. I guess the COLA. It also tells you that after 5 days you can check the status. I checked this morning but it had not processed but to be fair, the site had said that Tuesday would be "Day 1" or something to that effect instead of the day I filled out the form. DH's birthday is Nov 3 and he got his first check the 2nd Wed of Jan.

The days of the government sending out checks on the first of the month to everyone must be long over. My MIL's birthday is on the 25th of the month but she started receiving SS decades ago. What with all the baby boomers applying, they must have started to stagger them. I remember the days when one avoided going to the bank on the 3rd of the month since retirees would have received their checks in the mail by that day.

bethofvt I agree with Bob SS runs its own site. "Experian's principal lines of business are credit services, marketing services, decision analytics and consumer services. The company collects information on people, businesses, motor vehicles and insurance. It also collects 'lifestyle' data from on- and off-line surveys."
