Diane Thanks! Another learned something new today. In looking it up I see that Mary Kay and Johnny were a " real-life married couple." I wonder if that had anything to do with it and why later shows in the 50s and 60s still had the twin beds for the actors not married to each other. hmmm I can't remember what the bedroom of "I Love Lucy" looked like if they ever showed it.

Also learned that "Mary Kay and Johnny" was the "first television series to show a woman's pregnancy on television.[1] In 1948, Mary Kay became pregnant. After unsuccessfully trying to hide it, the show's producers wrote her pregnancy into the show. On December 31, 1948, the Stearnses' son Christopher, less than one month old, appeared on the show and became a character."

And here I thought the "I Love Lucy" held the distinction of being the first television series to show a woman's pregnancy on television.

Well that is what happens when things are either before one's time or not a "scholar" of such matters. Reminds me of how often the media would refer to Sarah Palin as the "First Woman to Run for VP" - hey, do some fact-checking Geraldine Ferraro first female vice presidential candidate representing a major American political party (1984). She also was the only Italian American to be a major-party national nominee). Twenty-four years later Sarah Palin became the SECOND female vice presidential candidate representing a major American political party; but she was a first for the Republican party (2008).

Wow, nearly a quarter century between the two and that is it - as far the two major political parties.
