Jude Wish I had read your post about all of free auction listings. I’ve been listing more of Swifty’s Tom Swift books, this time the Senior ones. Ones that I listed last week in the store have received a fair number of views but most of the ones I put up for auction last night have not even had one look. And these are not only First Edition but the highest number ones, which most of know that in a book series, the last ones were not published as often or even more than once. The early ones in a series get reprinted over and over.

I know it is the ’dog days’ of ebay and sales are slow this time of year but wow, right now I think we are either invisible to buyers or buried under a ton of other listings. I think everyone and his brother decided to list Tom Swift books last night – over 2 pages of ”newly listed” this morning (both Sr & Jr and both auction & BIN). Saving grace of yesterday in sales was a cookbook buyer who bought 5 cookbooks, and one of them was an over $20 one!

Well it turns out that I overestimated where Swifty would be. Thought he would be on his way to New Orleans today but he hasn’t reached Austin yet. His reply email gave his dad and me a LOL - literally.

”Middle of nowhere Texas. Literally not a trace of civilization in sight.”

Diane I am sure that you will appreciate the latter part of what Swifty said in a later email as to why they are behind schedule. I had asked if the reason they were not yet in Austin was if they ended up spending days and days in Las Vegas.

”We are only about 3 or 4 hours behind schedule mostly due to 2 hours in Vegas traffic and Texas being too big.”

haha don’t you love it – Texas being too big is why they are behind schedule! I remember my trip there when my oldest brother got married in Dallas and then we drove to San Angelo where my aunt lived. Thought we would never get there! Of course that is so true in other parts of the country when one is driving coast to coast. As my sons call much it, ”fly-over country.”

He did spend time in LA helping his friend’s law school friends move. He also said,

”Hollywood is pretty crappy. Horrible town in general Imo. We did have a nice drive on CA route 2 instead of just sitting in gridlock. Then got to Vegas, stayed for 2 nights and almost made it to El Paso last night.”

This is his second trip to LA and between the traffic and Hollywood, I don’t see it as a place that he aspires to move.
