I thought I should see if the Pac 10 was " the Conference of Champions". Unless Wikipedia is wrong or I missed something, always a possibility, the Pac 10 has had 20 national college football champs and the Big 10 has had 32 (NOT counting Nebraska and Penn State who have not won one since becoming members of the conference). I would not argue that the SEC now has the best football teams year in and out. Of course counting other (minor) sports, the numbers by conference may be different.
