My wife and I have just returned from another cruise, this one a short trip around the Caribbean on the Symphony of the Seas. Things have certainly changed a lot from when we first started to sail. On formal night few men wear a suit and tie. I remember one time when men wouldn't be admitted to the dining room if not wearing a tie on formal night. Now men go into the formal dining room wearing t-shirts and sandals. And what is with these sandals? I get on an elevator and all of the men, besides myself, are sockless and wearing sandals. I worry about stepping on all those bare toes in the crowded elevator. Is it such a bother to put on a pair of shoes or Nikes.
My wife and I did not eat in the main dining room at all. We ate in the specialty restaurants instead. The food is much better and the atmosphere is much nicer and quieter. Usually. Note: woman who have had one or two drinks really laugh loud and laugh at everything.
