Jhill- I think you're right. My DH moonlights as a high school football and lacrosse referee. We have always used an accountant and meticulously declared all of those little checks. Once you take all of the allowed deductions for uniforms and mileage there's not much profit anyway. This year, all of the school systems are asking the referees for their ss#s etc- some of the guys who couldn't be bothered with the paperwork are now going to have to do it!
