Cats will usually eat if the food suits them, or, if they are hungry. Our two range from voracious eaters to covering it up and walking away. I always tell my wife that they are overfed. I definitely agree in investigating if there is a prolonged refusal to eat. Cats can get very ill if they don't eat regularly. The Vet may be trying to see if your cat is supplementing their diet elsewhere by isolating her.
