Well, here we are looking forward to fall and winter here at the "Home". It is great to not have to worry about the mountain of leaves we used to have, and we wont have to deal with sleet and snow. We celebrate all of the holidays and birthdays or not. Then if we don't want to, we just stay in our rooms. The decoration are great. Many are made in the Craft class and are sometimes funny but quite tasteful. The friends are now many and we know most every one's first name. Thankfully, no one is overly friendly though. We really waited too long to make this move but now that we are here, we are very happy. If you are at all interested, I will keep you posted for life among the elderly is much different than I expected.

Good Morning! It is a beautiful day here at Crestwood. We are fully situated and very happy here in our new home. It doesn't seem new any more since we moved in 5 months ago. We are still moving things around from old house to here to storage place. We are trying to get the old house ready to sell. Wow, what a job.

I have been reading along here all the time and think that I have not missed too much. I haven't written much be cause I have lost some use of my left hand and some times have to resort to my old hunt and peck method. It is good to watch and find how you are all doing.

It's been a beautiful day. The second day of moving big things into the apartment. It looked wonderful to start with. New carpeting, fresh paint everywhere and waxed floors. What a great way to start a new life. Bed made, most of the clothes there. Lots of sorting later. The Salvation Army pile keeps growing.

Tomorrow morning starts with breakfast at 7:00 a.m. DH says I will probably crawl back in bed after all this activity. Nice to know that I have a nice clean one to go to.

Hope everyone's day was as great as ours was. We have so much to thank the good lord for.

Night all!

April 2, 2013, will be our first full day in our new apartment. Then, we will start moving things that we can't live without. This includes 2 housecats named Jasper and Jim. It is in a beautiful location looking into a small tree stand with an equally small creek. Russell is teasing that anything that small has to be a crick or a draining ditch. Non the less, from our door, it looks like a small creek, complete with squirrels and birds.

DH cleaned of the birds feeder and they will be here as soon as he puts feed out. He opens the porch door and they appear.

Carol, so sorry that you are having the same problems at the hospital, especially after waiting so patiently getting ready again. I that happened to me last year after preparing for a colonoscopy twice. Hate drinking that stuff.

I am going to try to sell some on eBay too, we'll see though for I pulled a muscle (ham string?) in my leg in a freak accident and have been hobbling around ever since then. It was awful and the pain was unbelievable. I screamed and fainted when it happened. The bruising is unbelievable. The kids are having a big time teasing DH that he did it when I didn't move fast enough. He has been his usual humble and wonderful aide tome through it all.

Been snowing here for several hours. DH says about 2". He goes out and sweeps the small porch and the ramp to the driveway. It is not terribly cold either.

We had such a nice week, DD and her DH came to visit from Michigan and help us get things ready for the big move to the HOME, as they jokingly call the Assisted Living where we are moving on April 2. Lots of things to give away, sell and or strore. We are sorting through 62 years of marriage and moving from an 11 rooms of house to a lovely apartment of Living room, Bedroom, kitchenette. Lots of serious choices to make. We are moving on the 2nd to the Home and will keep coming back here until all of the loose ends are taken care of. Our goal is about 6 months until we put this house for sale. The kids are helping us or we would have to call in the pros. We will be having movers take care of our living room and bedroom furniture moving.
We will have a great place in a large bathroom for a litter box, out of sight, for our two cats. That part was important too.

I am wondering if any of you are having problems with your support hose? I am and it is in keeping them from rolling up and cutting off circulation to the rest of my legs. Well, I think I have a solution. At least for the long hose. Before I was old enough to wear a girdle, I wore a thing called a garder belt. It worked. So I looked it up on ebay and sure enough, there they were.... really quite fancy but alright. Kinda costly but I bought them anyway. They just came so I will let you know how they do. My Doctor keeps harping that I use them as my legs swell so badly, and yes I am taking all of my med as I should.

Hi Helen. They can't keep a good woman down, can they? I see that you are still posting so that means that you are home and in front of your computer. You go girl!!!

It looks like you are better or still able to type so that is good news.
I can still read and sometimes even type so that is good news too. Along with the other things ailing me, "ailing" sure is a good word for it seems like I am either getting over or trying to get something all the time. I have trouble with the last 3 fingers on my left hand. They are either good, partly functional or won't work at all. Contrary things huh? Yeah, that just means that I have to carefully check everything before I can post anything. Could be worse? Well, no hands at all comes to mind. So if I am not posting at all, all that means is that I can't type but I am still reading. I am still going to sell, just slowly.

Well, went out yesterday and tonight for my Birthday celebration with the"kids". They 56, 61, 62, but for me they are still kids. We went to the Olive Garden, one of my favorites and the portions were so big I brought more than half of mine home. I will have to warm it in the oven as the microwave decided to die. Every thing is falling apart lately. We can't buy a new one because there is one in my new apartment. Went to Ponderosa as I had a gift certificate there. Again, the portions were so big that I brought enough home for another meal.

Thanks for the BD greetings, they were so appreciated. Thanks too Bob for the cartoons. I always welcome a good chuckle.

We have decided to make a change in our living conditions and will be looking for a move to an assisted living apartment. We will be selling our home and many things in it. We will be using eBay an auction and possibly a family yard sale. If any would be interested, I will try to tell you what, when and why. May be our experiences will help you in your future.

We only had white bread when I was a kid. We were really poor and I ate a lot of grape jelly sandwiches. Course, everyone else we knew were poor too. The economy was the pits in the 1930's. My mother died when I was 8 from mal nutrition and TB. Any kind of bread was good. war ended when I was 11 and it became another kind of world with a lot more variety in my diet. As I recall, Ice cream was my favorite food. High School, there was no hunger any more with folks we knew. Met my DH and after we married we ate lots of whole wheat items. Favorite then was Rye and favorite sandwich was grilled cheese made with raisin bread and kraft slices.

Today, I can only have 2 slices of any kind of bread or bakery items. I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. Life gets curiouser than ever. Treat for Thanksgiving will be Persimmon Pudding, and I am a very rich lady. I have a wonderful dear husband of 61 years and a loving family of 1 son and 3 daughters. They provided us with 3 granddaughters and 5 grandsons. They all fell in love and married and the result is 3 great granddaughters 7 great grandsons. We have so much to be thankful for. Life is Good. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Strangest thing happened yesterday. We went to the Corral yesterday and when we came home, I couldn't find the kitten, Jim. We looked all over and since there is a way to get under the house to a crawl space which is way behind the furnace, we thought that was where he was. We had another cat that used to go down there until we fixed the door to the furnace room so it would stay closed better. Well, DH left it open for some reason so we wait, and waited for him to come back. DH looked all around and called out doors too in case someone might have let him out. Well, no kitty and I went to bed just knowing that I would never see him again. I admit, tears came and DH felt himself to blame. This morning was sad to wake up without him.
I was sitting here at my computer when I heard a bumping noise from my DH's desk which is back to back to mine. I thought at first it was Jasper, our older cat. I went around to investigate, opening drawers and when I got to the last one, there Jim was and mighty glad to see me.
The drawer was left open, he jumped in and by wiggling around and the drawer on a wheel base, he managed to close himself in. He didn't cry, that is the funny thing and we figured he had to have been in there about 14 hours. He was very hungry and thirsty. Crazy thing, huh?

We have a big bushel basket size Mum and it is starting to grow brown around the edges. We will put a tomato frame around it and lots of leaves too. It was so beautiful and I sure hate to see it die down. Everything else seems to have gotten through that drought really better than I expected. Nature has it's own way I learn all over again. I still have some Snapdragons, planted up against the house that are still blooming. Yea snaps.

Needed extra money while DH was going to night school, I worked at a bar and made sandwiches and drew beer to make some extra bucks. We visited a bar where a neighbor, friend sang and played the Pianner. He was quite good and such fun too. He was an artist and later painted portraits of DH and me. I'll have to post them one of these days.

Good morning everybody. Where is everybody? Probably hunting a sweatshirt or sweater? It is cold here in eastside Indianapolis. It was 35* when DH went out to get the morning paper and is only 34* now. The sun is shining brightly and the cold snap slapped all the geraniums and begonas that were still out side. They will have to go into the garage until we put them all together in one big pot for the winter. Then they will live in the dark corner of the furnace room until springtime.

Must get the treats together for all of the Halloween critters. Then begin the plan for the 36 souls that will be with us in November to celebrate Thanksgiving. dinner it'self will be at my eldest DD's houses after which the celebration moves mostly here and there, DD's and DS's. Some will be here early that week and leave on Friday and others will be here on Wednesday and stay until Sunday. They will all spend the nights at either our house or my son's or my DD's.

They sleep in shifts and mainly dwell at our house trying to not miss anything. My DH and I will creep away to our room to grab some sleep any time we are tired of it all. The party just continues on and on. Some are going to take the little ones to the Indy Children's Museum. Also on Black Friday starting very early in the morning some will go Christmas shopping and find some bargains. Cleaning up after all that is done by everyone who stayed here, mainly my youngest DD and her family. Then magically, all of the weeds and downed debris from all the trees will just disappear. Often, our car will get a thorough cleaning and washing too. Of course they eat a lot too. Someone is eating all of the time. Someone is loading or unloading the dishwasher all of the time.

The wonderful part is there doesn't seem to be any arguments or bad feelings or spats at all if there are, we are not aware of them. I think that since they don't see each other except for that one week in a year, that they just cope with it all.
Thank you God indeed.

Hi everyone. Been around, just very late at night. I am having a terrible time with my Narcolepsy. When I say I need to sleep, I am in agony until i can. So, I have never been gone, just have so much I must do when I am finally awake. I do go back to read what went on that I might have missed.

It is almost fall and the leaves are starting to fall in earnest. Also, so sad to see the ones that have died and the ones that have been cut down. The poor squirrels have eaten every potted plant that we had out, also a lot of other things. Some of them aren't going to make it through the winter, I fear.

I haven't done anything of interest so nothing to tell. I sure will be glad when this election is over, I am so tired of it all. We saw several of the new TV shows. I can't say that any of them are worth watching again. One about a neighborhood taken over by alien families is just plain silly. Another about a woman doctor connected to the Mob. Bloody, and uninteresting.
I listed nothing last month so I had better get with it. Need to take some pictures. I have no idea what is going to sell any more so will just punt, I guess.

Oh and about people missing. I just figured that all must have had a lot to do since the break in the weather.

I am so concerned. I just can't sell books.
I had to close my small book shop because of my dis-integrating health. I put a lot of them in a storage unit and many of them are still there. Of course, I have so many at home that I am about like the ”Old woman in a shoe” for I have so many that I don’t know what to do.. with them. I have listed them every time eBay has offered a free listing and my sales record shows that there is simply no market for them. I have listed well over 300 books and have sold only 6 books. As I look back, the records show that not many people looked at them, hence, no sales. I will have to just try to sell my non book items.

Woe is me. Haven’t found a way to create an interest.

Good Morning Everybody! It isn't light enough yet to see if the porch is wet but it has been every day for a while now. That sure is a new experience after all of those months of very dry. My house plants look great because they have had care. The outside porch plants look good too because they spent the summer in the shade near the garden hose faucet.

Now if we can just get the election over, all will be okay for a while. I am so sick of the news media and the political stuff that I don't even watch tv much and get my news at Yahoo. I have noticed in the newspaper that there have been a rash of fires and shootings and burglary. I guess I can blame that on human nature.

I wore pajamas for a long time after I had kids. I found that if you get up at night to tend to a child, a slinky nightgown is not the thing to wear. Also, since we often had an extra child visiting, and DH asked me once how many of the neighbor kids I thought he could claim on his takes, pajamas were the thing. Then there is the rush to get "them" going and more than once I have had to rush out doors to retrieve something from the car, etc and could wait until I got dressed to to it.
