Patsy, a couple of years ago I offered to teach tap to seniors through the recreation dept. I was going to do it as a volunteer but I stipulated that I would have to have a sprung floor on which to teach. They didn't want any of their hardwood floors scratched and would only agree to let me use tile floors (tile on top of cement). Nope! - too hard on knees and hips. What is more important - pristine hardwood floors or happy tapping seniors??? Their loss...
