Just got home from Bakersfield hitting our favorite antique mall, thern had liunch with my best pakl of 45 years....GOOD day! Found some photographs, Stacy got a BEAUTIFUL Bessie Pease Gutmann print....Saturday morning I got a three foot in diameter early 19th century Mexican plaque carving of Jesus, Joseph and Mary (as my father used to say!) Damn thing weighs about fifty pounds.....I may keep that, its pretty cool! 🙂 Yeah, Paula, back in the 80's I could find Rookwood all over here....I dont think Ive landed a peice in two years now.....ya just cant specialize anymore unless you have really deep pockets...and some sort of clientele ready to follow you down to hell to pay for it. I used to occasionally consign to Rago's auctions back in the day until he screwed me on a Limbert settle......UGH.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Bombay.....I had to cvall Ebay three times last week due to a crook trying to get the better of me....all of the ladies I talked to had HEAVY Indian accents, and their names were Peggy, Linda and Kathy...ACTUALLY, "Peggy" took my adversary to the cleaners....I was quite pleased, but it took awhile to get some results and relief! I really dont care WHAT their names are as long as I can get some help.......but it was amusing. I dont understand the reason for that, but no biggie....Ebay actually HELPED a seller! 🙂 @ June....most of my friends fathers were aircraft mechanics when I was growing up....My father worked for Henry Kaiser, so he was a buit of an oddball......My father in law was (hes 90 this year) a P-38 and P-51 mechanic during WWII.....such a cool guy!!! But most of them are gone....One of my best friends father is 94 next month, her bailed out of a B-17 over germany and spent 18 months in a German POW camp.....(where oddly, he says he was treated quite well) a dying breed....and I will be sad to see them go. My father was a Navy Armed Guard Gunner on liberty ships during the war, ands pent him time shootingh at wolf packs.....a bunch of brave folks!!! 🙂
