Barbara- I thought tracking was now free if sent through USPS. Even if you don't pay for it, they put a tracking label and the post office can look it up for you. But I use an online service which automatically puts tracking numbers in each individual package. I always use tracking numbers because they help answer buyers' questions and also give me helpful info. I am not saying you should do this, simply offering my take. I can say, however, that in one case (out of many perfectly fine transactions) the postal service mistakenly routed a package hundreds of miles from its destination. It took weeks to arrive! Luckily, the tracking number allowed the the buyer to see when the package left my home and where it landed along the way to her house. I print my paid shipping labels directly from USPS online or another shipping service (I alternate).. Fees are tax deductible. In my view, tracking numbers are a bit like having extra insurance against negative feedback.
