Whenever I read about electric cars I often see not much about how much time is taken to recharge them. It is fine if you have a private home and pay to have a recharging station installed in your garage. The vehicle can recharge overnight much like a cell phone. But I recall living in Brooklyn and seeing lines and lines of cars parked on the street.

Then a person coming home from work with an electric car could not stop in a gas station and fill up with gas in about five minutes. He would have to go to a charging station (which hopefully has a vacant spot). Many electric cars can charge 100 miles in approximately 35 minutes with a rapid charger. If there are no vacant spots he may have to wait about an hour for one to open up. So he sits there wishing he was home with his feet up and a cold beer in hand. And, if it is cold he sits there in the cold for a longer period of time. Cold weather can reduce an EV battery range between 10-20% and could also triple the charging length. Electric cars just do not make much sense if you live in the city.
