Vermont, New York and many other States have done away with Columbus Day and replaced it with Indigenous People's Day. State and Federal offices and banks all closed, but most schools are open and dedicate the day's lessons to learning about the Native Americans in their area. I know many Abenaki tribe meembers visti schools in Vermont and tell the kids about their history and traditions.
Sorry it ahs been so long since I visited here, but just really busy. Now that the weather is getting colder, I will spend more time indoors and on the computer.
