A bit of history - there was a recession in this country from July 1990 – March 1991. Bill Clinton ran for president in 1992 saying "It's the economy, stupid" and "I want to get us out of this terrible recession that we are in" while at the same time financial papers were saying, "Since the end of the recession last year..." That lie he told helped to get Mr. Clinton elected. I suppose to this day he still chuckles about that.
