Patsy, I think you should stick with Upstairs, Downstairs. I think it will grow on you as you adjust to the accents. It takes time to get used to some of these series. I watched Mad Men and hated it. I decided to watch at least two episodes and suddenly I was hooked.
As for Tinker Tailor it is a great story. I loved Alec Guiness in the original version and want to see it again as maybe I am remembering it to be greater than I think. Anyway, the new movie is great but you really have to pay attention.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a British mystery series with detectives either male or female. I would like it to bring me mentally to England, Wales or some part of Britain so I can envision scones, chips, cold dank cottages and cosy pubs. Thands.
