Good morning BBers. Cloudy and overcast here in Indy but temps approaching the 80s on most days.
Lots of basketball of late but I had previously not noticed that 'flopping' fouls being called on various players. I did know what a flopping foul was so Googled it. Here is what I found.
"In basketball, a flop is an intentional fall by a player after little or no physical contact by an opposing player in order to draw a personal foul call by an official against the opponent.[1] The move is sometimes called acting, as in "acting as if he was fouled". Because it is inherently designed to deceive the official, flopping is generally considered to be unsportsmanlike. Nonetheless, it is widely practiced and even perfected by many professional players.

Flopping effectively is not easy to do, primarily because drawing contact can sometimes result in the opposite effect—a foul called on the defensive player—when too much contact is drawn or if the player has not positioned himself perfectly. Additionally, even if no foul is called on either player, by falling to the floor, the flopping defensive player will have taken himself out of position to provide any further defensive opposition on the play, thus potentially allowing the offense to score easily. To consistently draw offensive fouls on opponents takes good body control and a great deal of practice. Players generally become better at flopping as their careers progress.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) added a rule in 1997 to cut down on flopping near the basket, adding a 4-foot (1.22 meter) "dotted line area" around the center of the basket to help prevent flops. Such flops are charged as blocking fouls or no-calls. In the 2012–13 season, the league began fining guilty players.

In the NBA, the penalty for "flopping" is a technical foul, which starting in 2013-14 would be one of two fouls counted towards ejection.

2012-13 National Federation of State High School Associations basketball rule 10.6.f specifically defines "faking being fouled," in the judgment of an official, as unsportsmanlike conduct subject to penalty of a technical foul, but in practice this call is exceptionally rare."
In football or hockey it is called "diving."
You always wanted to know that didn't you.?

DH had said many times that he was going to move back to the Arkansas farm which he had inherited. Since then has sold that farm and a very nice house. There were many problems in keeping that farm and house.
Just recently I ask him if he thought we had made the right decision. He said the this was the right and best move for us. We are really enjoying being able to see our daughters, grand children and great grand children.

One of my brothers had done quite a lot of genealogy work after he retired. He had located the graves of many of our ancestors. Some nephews had been observing his work and decided they wanted to see the cemetery where our ancestors were buried so several of us gathered in our home town and that brother took us on what we called " A cemetery hop ." There were so many of us that my brother rented a school bus so we would all be together. I saw several cemeteries that I had heard about through out my life time. We shared many stories about the various ancestors.

But we could go down the hill into what was called "The Valley" where the farmers had access to the river for irrigation purposes. There was always plenty of fruit available in our markets. And there was a military base just north of El Paso which made for some interesting watching. We had a nice green lawn but oh those 'goat heads' could be painful to bare feet.

Fortunately several years ago I was in our branch post office when a clerk ask who our postman was. Apparently our postman received instruction to that he/she was to pick up our packages.

Good morning BBBers. Homemade rice pudding sounds GOOD to me. I may have to make some today.
Just thinking about a silly game that my brothers and I used to play. When we were playing cards if one made a mistake he was called a Pig. When one accumulated three Pigs one then became a Hog. When another player made a mistake and was named a Pig they could say "Well at least I'm not a Hog like you."
About that time Mom sent us to bed.

I have not checked temperatures but sun is shining here in Indy. Looks like we'll have a beautiful day.
And Dan this term "one and done " seems to refer not to a score but to a players eligibility. What am I missing ?
The top state basketball team was Tech from the Indiana Public School System. I believe this is the first time an IPS school has won in 34 years. Tech will now play some Texas school.
There is already much ballyhoo about the Indy 500. And so it goes.

Don't know what might be in store for today except I have a few more books to add to my database. I have ask my selling partner DD to buy more for at the next library sale.
Also sort of waiting for eBay to have a free listing period so can attempt to sell my non-book items.
I saw two pair of robins on the front porch rail. Maybe they will be nesting in the nearby bushes. I have not been robin watching so they may have been around for quite some time.

They make good weed control too. Just put them down and put some wood chips on top of them. They control the weeds and eventually disintegrate to enrich the soil.

We have a beautiful sunny day here in Indianapolis with temps in the 60s.
Mention retirement and I think of one of my brothers who retired as a carrier from the Los Angeles , CA post office after 25 years of service. He had set his alarm clock for the usual time that he had had to get up. When the alarm went off he smashed the alarm clock with the hammer that he had put at his bedside for that purpose.
He moved back to our home town where he enjoyed many years of retirement but he never quit working. He collected family history . He wrote and published a a family genealogy book. He coached youth baseball teams. He wrote a weekly column for the local newspaper for which he had readers scattered across the entire USA. He coached youth baseball teams. He drove a school bus and cared for his grandchildren.
