An eBay buyer of mine was asking if I knew of a book she'd read as a child ca 1950's / 1960's about a young girl that went to a farm and used to whisper in a horse's ear which ended up "taming" him. Doesn't ring a bell. anyone possibly remember?

I have been seeing a Naturopath (mostly thyroid and weight loss) but on my last visit to my Primary (traditional doctor), altho I had lost 30 pounds at that time, my BP went up and was quite high. Primary doubled my existing BP meds but before I did that I emailed Naturopath to ask him what he thought. He said dehydration can have a big effect on BP and to make sure I am drinking tons of water because a Keto diet makes everyone dehydrated. I did that and re-took BP at Rite Aid several weeks later and it had dropped somewhat. Still wanted to get it lower so Naturopath scheduled me for extensive labs to see what might be going on. Turns out Magnesium and Vit D levels (along w everything else) was normal. He mentioned those 2 in particular can cause high BP. Then I told him I've been taking OTC sleep aids for years. He said, well THAT will do it LOL. So I have decided to stop using the sleep aids and see what happens. Too soon to know. So if anyone is having BP issues, in addition to doctor's orders, try drinking more and maybe supplementing Vit D and magnesium...just a thought

HI All - wondering if someone might give me some help/advice on this as I know NOTHING about art!!! Picked up this Lionel Edwards print at a tag - signed both in the print and on the matting. It is his Derwent Hunt print. I don't want to mislead anyone or make a mistake - do I call it print. watercolor, litho, or ??? Also while trying to figure out the title I notice some people say "After Lionel Edwards..." and I am not sure #1 what that means and #2 if it applies to this print. I think it might have some value but....not really sure - any advice would be appreciated!! TIA Barbara

Jane - I am probably not explaining this well - if I use the ISBN many times ebay puts it directly into Textbooks and there is no horse category there - I want to use Non Fiction but then I can't use the stock photo or the prefilled synopsis etc from the ISBN - I always have my own pix but the stock photo is nicer and I like having a little synopsis. IOW I can't seem to use the ISBN AND change to Non Fiction from Textbooks...not a biggie, maybe it is me!

Beth - hope you feel better soon - my husband went through something similar last month - severe shakes so he went to his doctor and he put him on doxy immediately and said he is seeing a lot of people w those symptoms. He did test + for Lyme but in his case several days on the doxy and he was much improved. Hope you feel better soon

It seems like most of my horse books are thrown into Textbooks if I use the ISBN....so I don't use it because I can't figure out how to change the category so I can use the Topic I want.

June I do sell a lot of HC non fiction (horses, guns, fly fishing, archery type subjects) but not too many HC fiction. The Flowers in the Attic series in HC I picked up last year at a sale just bec I sell the PBs VERY frequently and I was surprised to see the HCs sell in the 40+/- range. If I can't fill in a missing title for a series in PB, I will fill in w HC. Personally when I read I prefer HC only bec I read on my lunch break at work and it is just easier to read while eating at my desk but I rarely resell what I read - I try to turn them in at my local used book store.

Next time you have a bunch in a series just for the heck of it check the "solds" for how much the series goes for when complete. Might be worth filling in the missing titles as people seem to pay for us doing that legwork for them LOL. Wikipedia usually has most authors and their series listed

I just started back reading and listening to Dick (and Felix) Francis books! OMG I love listening to the audios (I have a very long commute so read tons in the car)...so much fun hearing that limey accent LOL reminds me of my Dad. It's good because he has a very long list of books so I won't run out of his for a long time. Hate it when I read every one in a series/author I like...well you guys know that feeling

There's a lot less clutter your way June!!! LOL My area, heck my whole house, is cluttered with books and boxes of books to list. You sure have a lot of books listed!!

I usually check solds on the series and if it seems worth it to me, I fill in missing books from half.com usually. For what I get for complete series, in most cases it is well worth it IMO. When I have a lot of dupes and need to clear out some I just lot by author or genre and a low price to get rid of them

Despite having literally boxes of books to sell, I still can't pass up a book sale so I doubt my clutter will ever go away. It's that thrill of the hunt mentality LOL. This past Sat I hesitated going to one sale as in the past I rarely got anything there but this time I scored big w a set of Flowers in the Attic in HC, lots of Lee Child, about 17 Terry Pratchett Discworld and a ton of older Heinlein...all for $10.00...as you all know so well, you just never know

Glad you got inspired to list again >b>Jane....sometimes it is tough when you get away from it for a bit but a sale or two should keep the spark alive 🙂

I have a lot of luck selling VC Andrews but best by the series. Most of hers are either 5, 3 or 2 to a series. If you see the complete hardcover Flowers in the Attic series, grab them!

Also Brian Jacques REDWALL is a good seller. I used to just lot them up but have started selling the Redwall series complete (22 books I think)

My Lee Child audios sell almost immediately...sell them after I am done listening. Just recently started collecting his books to sell as a complete series - Also Vince Flynn series altho those can take awhile to sell

And the book sales are really annoying with so many people zapping bar codes! I try to hit our local flea market a few times a year - it is a great flea and you never know what you'll find there. Last trip I bought a vintage western saddle which is really nice. The guy knew nothing about saddles but said he got it off a wife that was ticked off at her husband and she was getting rid of his stuff LOL. Nicely made and tooled - hopefully once I get it listed others will agree 🙂

mnewville and Beth - reminds me of the old Frasier episode where the Dad receives $20.00 too much from an ATM withdrawal and Daphney guilts him into "trying" to return the excess money - after several attemps on an automated machine they go down there and they keep giving him even more money back thinking the error was in not giving him enough money.... and after several more attempts he somehow ends up with the bank offering him 10K (or some such crazy amount) to forget all their mistakes and to not take away his business etc...it ends w Daphney asking to open an acct

Thanks for mentioning that ebay glitch June

Weird that those folding chairs sell so well.....I was tempted at a tag sale this past w/e but I just didn't want to deal with boxing it up!! I have enough trouble finding boxes for the western saddles I sell but with a couple of exceptions try to stick w the kids saddles which sell well and are much smaller!

Hay Mystery - are you lucky enough to have an airing of Snowman near you this month? Our closest is on the other side of the state so will wait until it, hopefully, plays closer!

Beth Congrats on finding both Snowmans recently - that Palazzo book that sold for 149.99 (make an offer) was my copy - I was selling it for a friend and she accepted $100.00 offer. When I listed my copy there had been only one sold copy and it was a Make an Offer - I emailed her at the time and asked if she'd share what she'd sold it for and she said 100.00. (I think hers was listed at 300.00 make an offer so it was real confusing to attempt to price it) So there's a ballpark for you. Will keep an eye on yours - good luck!

Gail - Do the rods have hard cases? How long are they? Tons easier if you have a case - I taped 2 of the Priority "tube" boxes together but that was for a 3 piece so it was shorter - if you have a 2 piece it will be pretty pricey because of the upcharge for the length In the past I ahve shipped them without a case....I wrapped them in a lot of bubblewrap....I work at a commercial printer so I take home cardboard that some of the larger stock comes in and save it to make these crazy sized boxes when I don't mail priority. You might also want to check how much to have one of those shipping places wrap it for you. I hate selling these but sometimes I can't help myself 🙂

My neighbor breeds (or used to at least) minis (miniature horses) and she is always excited to see what colors get thrown. She's had appys appear after several generations of non-appys etc - she said she gave us years ago trying to predict years ago...the flashier the better for the show ring 🙂

mystery my vote on that movie list (of the ones I've seen at least) is the 2 Snowy River movies! LOVE those and can rewatch time after time.

One movie not on that list that I liked was The Long Shot with Marsha Mason - but I think I am partial to that one because the horse was blind and I was owned by a completely blind horse for many many years....I still have his buddy, a QH mare, who is mostly blind but she still has limited vision.

I have to chk out some of those other movies....thx for posting the list

I did the research, (I thght) and because the box was in such horrible shape I decided to price an Original Dungeons and Dragon box set at 150 w a BIN of 225.00 and it sold within an hour. I've had TWO people email me so far to tell me I messed up LOL - apparently the value wasn't just in the box and 3 booklets in the box - the value was in the loose papers inside the box and that I didn't see in any of my research. If the auction had run its course it would have closed at about 1000.00 in this one guy's opinion at least... But I'm happy with my $3.00 purchase 🙂
