Lynne, books gain and lose in value. Depends on how long you want it to hold it’s value. Check out the genre, and who it appeals to. Clive Cussler is an author whose books were around $300 – check the current value of his first book. Value also depends on how many are printed. Just do some careful internet research. View

You might remember I traveled a lot before 1990 - all over the USA. I picked up book matches and had a large collection. Sold it on ebay before I left TX and wrapped it in aluminum foil before mailing it. I havae a couple of strike on the box matches to light my many birthday candles.

I like to see men with well formed brown legs wearing shorts, no matter the age. My son, 66, started wearing shorts 2 years ago. He never wore whort in his adult life, but is comfortable doing so now.

Wonderful weather here, although there were storms all night. Got a new ceiling fan for my BR and son installed it yesterday. Has a light fixture and I can see in this dark room for the first time since I moved here. Feeling better, but still not 100%. Lost a little weight and to this point have not gained it back. My go to sleep videos on utube have moved on from ancient mediterrean history to art and major artists. Am learning a lot.

My sister and I both had measles and chicken pox. Unfortunately when my children were little I got measles again. I can remember quarentine signs on door for scarlet fecer, and of couse knew several children who had polio. My parents wouldn't let us go anywhere there were crowds of people in the summer because of polio.

My daughter, from NYC, who hasn't visited in five years. Wonderful surprise. I'm a happy camper today. Up first this am, and ready for another great day. They are staying until Sunday.

Girl scouts have set up a cookie table in my yard; I'm a corner lot. I thought it was Feb 1 yesterday. Seem to gain or lose a day every week now. Only need to know what day it is for Dr apts.

Most of our 9 inches of snow is still here. Very ;little melting so far - Pensacola has been paralyzed fpr 2 days. I certainly hop it's another 100 years before we see this again. Beautiful the first day, and amazing, but I'm over enjoying it. Have plenty of food and house is warm, thankful for that.

Chilly nut sunny in Pensacola. My brother is coming this weekend for a weeks visit. He has been snowed in for several days in N. Ala. I have 3 or 4 small chores to do before he arrives.
Christmas passed uneventfully. The four little pups next door continue to bark in the middle of the night. Even on these cold nights they were outside in the covered porch. Going to buy one of those whistles that deters barking.

Vikings settled on both coasts, but the west coast settlement proved unsistainable. Making up beds from my "Storm" guests. All my sheets are old, and mismatched. Mattresses are deeper now, and I had to buy bottom sheets to go with the good top sheets I already had. Have managed to clear out a few things, sold a couple, and more to go. After 2 weeks finally opened my home owners insurance statement. Thank goodness it didn't go up. Everyone I know has been complainging about how much theirs has gone up. Doubled, etc. Can't believe I worried about it 2 whole weeks. The four little dogs that moved in next door are very entertaining. They dash up and down, but don't get in the pool. Their yips are very small also. Getting things done, buyt slowly, feeling pretty good after all those months of not being in good shape. :Life is good.

One of the things I did at my bookstore was help people find missing books for their collections: from Zane Grey, and other western writers to Sci Fi, etc. As i accepted trades I got all the books I wanted to read free, and finished out my own collections. It was fun, excellent conversations with customers, easy except for the filing of books. Now, because of my failing eyesight I had to give up reading over a year ago. Really should sell some of these books I have, as I won't be rereading them again.

I've lived in Nashville Tn, Goodlettsville, Tn, Parris Island SC, Birmingham, AL, Jasper Tx and now in Pensacola Fl. I liked most of my houses while I lived in them. At times I tried to grow roses - lots of work. In Texas had 35 plants and borders of day lilies. Since I move here have only had flowers in pots and this year, only fake geraniums. This is my favorite house (3-4 brs, 2 BA, LR, den, kit, laundry, patio) Too much to keep clean now., Big yard, corner lot. Three houses on my street sold in the last couple weeks, for more than twice what I paid for this one 20 years ago. That's good I guess. Especially for my DS.

My granddaughter and her husband both work from home - and that's the only kind of job they want. I don't know what their income is, but they don't aspire to the 3 BR, two car, two and a half kids plan. I'm beginning to think they might have the right idea. The rat race takes up most of your life, and doesn't really provide satisfaction. I retired in 2003 and enjoy my days at the computer. There are patio doors in my computer room, and I can see some neighbors, birds, traffic. There are fake geraniums lying on the patio floor this am, so will investigate that sometime.

Don't seem to be getting energy back. We just had a little shower but in an hour the sun might be brightly shining. You can't tell about Fla weather. I put up a hanging water bath for the birds, but so far none have visited. I'm thinking of attaching a bright flower. Birds find water by hearing it or seeing it move,.

One of my pet peeves is the singing of the national anthem. Half the singers have terrible voices, not suited, or they try to make a rap song of it. Second, half don't sing the right words. i'd rather have an orchestra version, or use America the Beautiful.
All ok here in Fla Panhandle. Hot, dry. My brother may come next week, so I'm thinkng about doing some house cleaning. Just at the thinking stage now.

Our pizza delivery with tip for driver is right at $50. We've had to rethink take out. TAco Belll and Chick Fila A are the most reasonoable. Shrimp Box is over $40 with no drinks, 5 guys about $23.

I don't see a post from Beth, but evidently some of you did.
On top of everything else, I had a bad reaction to an antibiotiuc and was in bed another two days. DS has been great during all this, but I think he may be tir4ed of waiting on me. Doing better today - hope to stay up all day - may even get dressed.

Briguy! Interesting to hear about your life - stay with us. We could use the sarcasm, believe me.
Recovering still from my fall - but getting close to 100%. Dressed and stayed up almost all of yesterday, even cooked a casserole supper. Thunder, wind and lots of rain in the early am. Schools closed today. We didn't lose power but some areas did. Another house for sale in our neighborhood - going for outrageous prices.

Spent 3 hours in ER last evening due to the pain from Wed.'s fall. Saw among other things, a dead body being moved, a skinny old woman pushing a wheel chair for 2 hours, a fat woman throwing a screaming fit subdued by 4 brave men,and most of a motorcycle gang. They confirmed nothing broken, just bad painful bruising. Think it's some better today.

Had a fall this morning. One minute standing, next on the floor. Several hurting spots, nothing broken, will be okay in a few days. Be careful out there.

A week since anyone posted - I feel it's my duty to say something. Didn't get a lot done this week, but marked a couple things off the list. DS and I will make our annual visit to see if the Gulf is still there one day when we both are feeling well.
I urge you all to keep up with political events and to vote this fall. Our country is nearing it's expiration date. I only hope it's a bloodless revolution and all government programs doen't close down. On that cherry note I will say ligr is good at the moment and I wish it would just continue along.

Lots of rain and wind, but we missed the worst of this storm system, I think. Carpenter came yesterday and fixed the termite damage outside and inside. Roofers still haven't shown. Dark and dreary day.

DS doing better. Was able to drive me to eye dr yesterday. Not a good visit there - painful, Eye is bloody, sore and tearing. Looks worse than it is, but had a headache last night. Better today. Don't go back until June. Getting stuff done around the house. Patio almost ready for summer.

And consider that while using a cane, you don't get better, you get worse. Use it or lose it is very true. You're a fighter, so bite the bullet. Time is not your friend at an older age.

DS still experiencing dizzy, fainting spells with nausea/ I've really been worried because I count on home for so much.
A little rain here today - ornamental fruit trees blooming and fig tree has leafed out next door. We were afraid it had died, it was so bad looking at the end of last year.

Hearst owned the weekly that I worked for in Texas. It also was found4ed in the 1800s and continuously in operation, the only thing that saved it to that point. Not sure if they even publish a paper paper anymore - or just have the on line one in conjunction with a newspaper in the next largest cuty, Newspaper business along with the book business has totally changed. Also movies I would say. Computers have done a lot of good, but we also lost some of the human touch.

Not a great week, but getting better. From now to the end of the month should be fairly warm. I expect to see signs of spring. My favorite time of the year, and I always look forward to the first flowers and getting my patio set up with blooming plants. The wrought iron on the front small porch needs touching up. I may try to do that this year. Used a brush last time and scraped all the peeling paint off, so shruld be able to just spray this time. If DS doesn't take over. He doesn't get that I enjoy these little projects, even if they take me torever now. Don't have any genealogy project - anyone have something they'd like to know about their family? No charge and I don't keep the records once I've finished.

One thing I miss about Texas is the birds. We were in a migration path there - here there are very few birds. A pair of cardinals, pair of mockingbirds, pair of Blue jays, doves, and the occasional hawk or gull.

Patsy, sorry for the knee trouble - be sure and update us.
Gray day here, rained in the night. I know because I was awake.
I have a new "talking" scale. Announces your exact weight in a rather loud, course female voice. But it had gotten to the point I couldn't see the reading on the really old scale I was using. I weigh every Mon am. Happy to report right where it should be this am.
DS had to get a new phone - something went really wrong with his. He was happy to find the cloud had saved all his numbers and most vital info. He lost photos and music. Fortunately he had transferred most photos to one of his computers. He spent all day talking to the phone, sometimes not so politely.
