Still working part time ..so gone for the day ...

Hi everyone , I've been lurking at times and finally decided to say hello again .
Re: Snowman ... I sold a worn library copy a couple of years ago on the river site for $94.00. I have found only 2 copies of it in my 16 years of ebay selling .
That last copy was found at a very picked over library sale in Memphis, Tn . I also found a copy of " Seduction of the Innocent" at that same sale . Proving that " anything can be anywhere "

Making my usual drive by posting .. I wanted to wish each one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year . I've been really busy most of the time working part time and returned to volunteering as a cat foster for West Tn Animal Rescue . Each one of you have a safe and blessed holiday season .

Mainer My deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband . I hope that memories of the good years will comfort you and your family .

Nancy I'm very sorry for the loss of Izzie ...they leave their paw prints on our hearts . I buried my beautiful white cat , Angel , on Thanksgiving Day in 2008 .

Could not remember my password here .. took about 5 min to recall it .. (I forgot to write it down in my PW book ). While looking down the list of pw that I had written down through the years , I found names of websites that I have not visited in forever

Jack .. a wonderful story about your dear friends , the Hermans ... I enjoyed reading it .

Patsy Love the purple dress , ... your mom was really a talented seamstress ..I used to make ornate dresses and formals for my daughter when she was young .. but now, can't remember the last time I cranked up my sewing machine .

The people of VT and NJ have been in my thoughts as they deal with disaster .. We had serious flooding in our area in May , 2010 ... Many towns in our county and others in W Tn had the worst flooding in over 100 years. I was blessed that my small town was on the fringe of the storms and was spared the worst .

I had a close call in June of this year when a freak Tstorm dumped 3 inches in 30 min ...water got way too close to my homes's South side . I have a drainage ditch at the side of my yard and the old metal culvert under the road had rusted out and was partially blocked , and was restricting the water flow ..( I discovered this after the water went down and I inspected the culvert myself, then wrote a letter to city manager ) . City is in process of replacing the culvert ( cut through the blacktop road over it about 3 weeks ago ) .. Obviously , they are being a bit slow about it , but thats life here in the South 🙂 ..we're currently having a drought here , so hope they get it done before the rains start ..

I will be thinking of those of you in Irene's path ..and praying that you will all be safe .

Still waiting on biopsy resuts from colonoscopy ..but visual exam found no serious problems... so hoping all is well

I'm on liquid diet /starvation today preping for a colonoscopy tomorrow 🙁 .... have to drink the swill /cleaner at 8 PM and again at 6 AM .. dont expect to get much rest tonight ...

diane .. I agree with Sandy ... Sounds like you need to find a new doctor ... would you accept that kind of service/response from your auto mechanic , or any other person to whom you pay your hard earned money .. Your health is your most valuable asset and if this Dr. is not providing you with proper care/attention/service ... you should find one that will give you better care.

Hi ...I don't often have anything worthwhile to contribute ,so wanted to mention a PB that brings a decent price.. " The Dark Heart of Time , A Tarzan Novel " by Philip Jose Farmer (sp) .. I sold mine for $17.00 .. a few months ago on the river site . lowest price last night was $19.00 Not a huge amount , but not bad for my investment of 25 cents.

Patsy if you have not read .. ALASKA by JAMES A. MICHENER .. you might enjoy it .. it is a novel based on the history of the state ... I read it last year

Helen I saw a post a few weeks ago that I thought was Antsy ... poster was named Ann ..( I could be wrong )

I see no reason to return to the old board again ... I expressed my opinion there yesterday on one particular subject and my regrets to Mr. Bodine that he had not seen the glory days of the old BB . And so I am done ...this is my Book Board home now and I am happy here.

Patsy ...Yes , I was there for a few minutes , and made one of my rare posts in response to the disgraceful use of a demeaning term ... I left and probably will not go back ... I left them with the comment that the BB that I knew and loved is " Like Camelot , only a memory . "

I now look forward to coming here each day to see old friends and make new ones..

Janice I love Tabby cats ... I have a Brown Tabby also , named Hissy , because she used to hiss at me when she first came to me with her stray cat mom . I have six left of my rescued brood .. They live in a cat house with access to a large covered outside pen .

Re : Frontline I noticed that the .5 cc dose was hard to read ... be sure you only use 1/2 of one cc on an ADULT cat . Kittens are not to be treated with Frontline until over 3 months old and require a much smaller dose ( 2/10 of one cc ) than an adult . Please note : I am not a medical professional so Be sure to verify this with your vet for your own piece of mind

Rusty (14lbs , 11 yrs old ) and his family were a group of large cats . His mother , Mardi Gras was 14 lbs and passed last year at 11 yrs old ... his brother Dusty ( 20 lbs and just over 3 ft long frpm nose to end of tail ) passed at 8 years old , sister Beauty(12 lbs ) passed at 5 yrs old.. and I wonder if their large size that shortened their life span .
RE : Frontline .. my vets advised me years ago to buy the large dog size of Frontline and put it in a small, clean bottle ..then use .5 cc ( 1/2 of 1 cc ) between the shoulder blades or back of neck to treat an ADULT cat . I wash and keep the antibiotic dispensers they give me when one is sick to measure the dose of Frontline. It has saved me a fortune since I have rescued and fostered lots of cats over the last 10 years. Most vets will verify this if you ask them ..unless they are money hungry .

Good Morning from West Tn . Sorry I disappeared yesterday .. lost my cable TV/internet connection around 12:30 PM and it was not back until sometime in the night after I went to sleep . The outage was spread over a large area as a friend in a town 20 miles away was also disconnected .

On a sad note , one of my oldest cats passed away yesterday .. his name was Rusty ... a 14 lb orange Tabby .. I helped his stray cat mom deliver her litter in my outside storage building in March of 2000 on a stormy , rainy night . They are all gone now ..Rusty was the last one. It's hard to see them go .

Good morning.. I was up early for a trip to Wally World (30 miles round trip )to pick up a 90 day supply of meds and some groceries that can't be found in my small town store . This is a town of just over 1000 and we are lucky to even have a grocery . I try to spend as much as I can here.. but have to go abroad for some things. Also I wanted to get ahead of the crowd and get back before the heat set in here in West Tn . It's predicted to be the hottest day so far this year of at least 100 .

Have to get ready for work ... have a happy day all !

I recently found a story written by briguy that I had saved to my computer years ago . It was about his fathers hunting dog. Briguy is a fabulous writer , I re-read the story and it brought tears to my eyes just as it did years ago .. I so hope he decides to come over to this chat and continue to share his talent and knowledge.

I don't post much ( as was always my habit through the years ) ..and am sort of a hit and run poster.. but I am a daily lurker and reader .. I am just thrilled to see those who are returning from their long absence .. I have thought of many of you and wondered about you often . This new board is such a blessing and it brings tears of gratitude to my eyes for the generous heart who has done this and allowed us to remain a far flung but connected and caring community .

dupo I'm so very sorry about Miss Kitty . ..I wrote this poem for a friend who ahd lost a pet a few years ago . I post it for you in Miss Kitty's memory .

Weep not for me , Beloved.

When you look up and glimpse their sparkling beauty ,

Hi everyone !! It good to see so many familiar names here.. I am thrilled to have this continuation of our beloved book board available . I was a regular poster for years , then backed off due to personal problems .. but have always checked back periodically even though i did not post very often . I hope I will be able to share this board with all of you for many years to come ..
