• I don't know how many of you frequent the boards on ebay, but if so, you may want to check in. Ebay has announced a "consolidation" which translates to "elimination," and most of the interest-specific boards will go. Sadly, the book sellers' board will be gone, as will jewelry, coins, etc., with most of the interest-specific boards condensed into "Art & Collectibles." RIP BSB.

  • June From the bookseller board thread regarding auto relist: ""When this item is automatically relisted, you won't have to pay the insertion fee and the listing won't count against your monthly free-insertion-fee listings. Fees for any advanced listing upgrades you use still apply."

  • I also use VTG or Vintage in the title when the book I'm selling is a first edition or early printing of a book that is commonly available as a modern reprint, such as a Walter Farley horse book, a Betty Crocker cookbook, or a children's book that isn't out of print. I use VTG/Vintage as a key word when doing price comparisons and want to narrow my search, and I think buyers do that as well. With the number of spaces now permitted in an item title, I think "VTG" can be a valuable addition, (along with everything else that should be in a title), even if too many sellers use it inappropriately.

  • lookwhatbobfound I think the requirement is 500 on a side, not 600. I've been upgrading for months, so it better be 500!

  • Kathleen - No, I haven't updated within the last few days, and now I don't want to! Clicking on "Get Suggestions" doesn't bring the Topics dropdown back?

  • Hi Kathleen--I'm not sure what TL is doing to you, but the info you're looking for (cookbook secifics) is still there, at least on my TL. If you select the non-fiction category, Books, then Cookbooks, the item specifics will give you Subject: Cooking, Food, Wine. Then, in the Topics dropdown, you'll find the specifics you want, such as Regional, Community, Baking, Soups & Stews, etc.

  • Joy-baby posted this message on the bookseller board thinking it was the old chat: "hello friends...been a long time since i posted, i had a relapse with my addictions and had to go through rehab...again. think this was the 4th time, one of these days i hope to get it right. hope you all are well. i haven't been selling much, actually my Ebay sales have been pretty dismal for the last year or so. i've been trying to make some extra $$ to help out my sister in Texas, she just lost her job. hope you all have had great luck so far this year and, even though it's a month or so late, hope your 2012 is the best yet. take care." She got a response redirecting her here, but if she doesn't check back she won't find the new board.

  • Diane DP has been out West for the last few years, but moved back to New England this fall. She wasn't sure what she'd be doing for work.

  • DianeDP is alive and well and back in New England.

  • Greetings, Jack--I've been in Newgate Prison, and it was not a place you'd want to be in for more than a few minutes. Some of the areas where they kept people were really just low rock caves that you couldn't stand up in--damp and truly awful.

  • In celebration of the end of four days without internet/phone/power/heat, I'm posting my best-sellers for October. Packing by candlelight was...interesting. And yeah, a generator for the furnace (and fish-tank) is on the to-do list.

  • acuity - I listed a book several weeks ago that ended up with a view count close to 100--about 90 hits higher than anything else I had up. Since the book had already been relisted several times, was priced low, and was by no means an exciting offer, I was a bit taken aback at the number of hits. I checked the description and photo to see if I had made an interesting error, and I googled the topic to see if there was something going on that might be driving up interest, but found nothing. In the end, I assumed there had to be a link to the listing in a newsletter or blog, but I never found out where. And no, the book didn't sell.

  • Speaking of points...does anyone happen to have the points for a first edition of The Cat in the Hat? Is this the one where the price on the dustjacket of the first edition is higher than the second printing?

  • Becky - When I was researching the generic flea medicines, I came across a site that is selling bottled Frontline that is applied with a measured dropper. It was much cheaper than the Frontline sold in the standard one-time-use pre-measured dispensers. I may try that next.

  • Bill I second that. I love my Mavica. I bought it used over ten years ago, and it's still going strong.

  • Thanks for your responses last week about generic flea medicines. I did some research and decided to give it a try since the cost was considerably less than the brand name. I'm keeping my fingers crossed--if it doesn't work as well as Frontline I'm going to be very, very sorry.

  • Good morning! Since so many of you BBers have animals, I was wondering if anyone has used the generic treatments for flea/tick prevention. The brand name treatment (frontlineplus is what I've been using) works great, but with four furry friends, the cost is getting to be a bit much. Any words of wisdom?
