Hi all,

I've been remiss in posting. Super hot and humid (for us), in August, which makes me practically brain dead. Wedding of good friend, a past student, which was probably the nicest most relaxed, fun wedding I have ever been to. Took a fall ('cause feet legs don't work right since accident 5 1/2+ yeas ago) and broke two adhesions loose, which was a good thing.
Just got back from Illinois orthopedist and chiropractor, plus took Mom back at same time. Ortho gave me something to try something for the neuropathy from accident. Have gotten some feeling back with time, from healing/regeneration/or whatever, so we'll see what this new stuff does.
There was a pet show at Mom's retirement home just after we got down so entered Teddy. It was hot. It got hotter as week went on. Car’s rear view mirror thermometer showed 99 on Tuesday and heat index was over 100. Close to that high most of week. Of course the cool down came the day I left. lol Last night is was 42 here at home.

More later, or as I like to say News at 11!

I went out last night, with a friend, just after dark... 9 ish ..... and saw 2 small ones right away. Overall I saw at least 10-12 (stopped counting) in about 20-30 minutes. Friend saw some that I missed. There were three, count'm THREE , awesome ones with long, fat tails. Hope I am more awake tonight.

My lessons are almost done. Been crazy every day for weeks. Not any real trail rides but still hanging on. Back /legs have been spasing a lot but I am managing...just not typing. Teddy was lost for 1 1/2 hours last week and I was freaked out. More later if fingers oblige.

Hi everyone Thought I should check in . Got back from Illinois doctor visits two weeks ago tomorrow. Had three appointments, but one was cancelled as roads were closed with flooding. A first for me.
Came back with Mom. She is in her own house just 600 feet down the road. My niece and her DH will will be there most of summer. Niece's DH is fireman and save his OT up all year so he can fish most of summer. Niece comes on weekends and vacation days so some one is usually sleeping in house. I am back and forth from my house, barn and Mom's.

I am spending more time outside no and not so much on computer. Much outdoor work needs doing, which is still taking much more time than pre-accident, and I can only do in little increments, if at all. Still trying to find some strong help but every one is busy this time of year so no luck yet. Really need someone to weed whip.

Have found plenty of hay (he has 2000 bales and I have 33 in barn now) and need to decide how much of it I should get. I need about 2000 for winter. It is first crop, pretty well cured, nice grass hay but not as high protein as I like. I really like to feed second crop but do not know if we will get second crop or how good it might be.

Lessons have started, have had no trail rides yet and just a couple of pony rides.

Have read and tried to keep up. Hugs and good thoughts for those with issues. Congrats and "Happy's" for those with B-days and milestones. Commiserating with those who have had setbacks.

DIANE Sorry. falling sucks.
Jobes/support hose - I took Mom's off ( before she could do it herself) with her on the bed lying down, sometimes I sat on bed . Did pulling only from my arms. Kind of scrunched the down at first the pulled inside out and off. Mom put her own on after big swelling went down . I had her accordion them rolling was too hard, even pre-accident, for me. She normally doesnt need them but had stood over two hours on cement floor at program in Chicago . Only had to wear them about two weeks then was back to normal fortunately.

Off Sun or Mon to Illinois for Doctors and then Mom will come back with me to Island till after Labor day. Her eyes are much worse than in the winter plus next year, at this time, she will be 98 1/2. This may be her last summer here. Her house is only 600 feet down the road from me.

DIANE - Plain old yarn might be easier to learn with. Thread would be for more lace type work wouldn't it? I tried, eons ago, with yarn but no patience to keep up. I would be too tense or loose.
That's OK, though, as I have lots of other things I like better and was better at pre accident. Hammered a tiny bit yesterday did not fling hammer out of hand, for a change.

Morning everyone.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!, to all the Mom’s out there.

I got back late Friday night from Illinois doctor trip. It has been down to 32 and have seen snow flakes since getting home. Friends 40 miles to north across the water had quarter size flakes yesterday. The mid-lake bouy is back in the water for the season. It is showing 35+ mph wind gusts and steady of about 30 mph. I like the readings off of that weather station the best ( for wind) as there is no blocking air flow from land or trees. I get temps locally.
It was a bit hectic before I left, with Teddy to vet, packing and computer issues. I have a very reasonable vet. Bill was $30 total of which $22 was his bordetella vaccine, and he also scaled his teeth, clipped nails and looked at a bump on his chest. Bump should just be a fatty thing, but I will keep watch.

KATHLEEN - Have not seen news of you tanker crash and may google it. Sounds like it will be a mess for quite a while. Can imagine the mess with vacationers this summer too. ugh.

DIANE - Continued best thoughts for you and Von.

Talked to BOOKLEAVES Friday. Have not talked to TEDFRED in a while. Thinking of CASINOKAT, today especially.

DIANE - Teddy had something going on early in the winter, similar to Rowdy. He would poke me to go out and then not need to 'go' when he was out. He just stood outside. I would bring him in and he wanted to go out again.
Not sure what was going on but ended up thinking he was a little feverish so gave him baby aspirin for a day or so as the first one helped a lot. Gave him extra yoghurt, too.
When he was definitely feeling better I could tell that he was much cooler. I am good at gauging his temp by putting fingers in his ears and on belly skin near back legs. He has allergies, so his regular temp is a bit higher than a normal dog temp. As his temp got back to his normal his normal attitude came back too. Hopefully Rowdy will come along the same way.

Morning everyone

Well, we hit 60 on Sat and 70 on Sun. Still have much ice on north side of barn. Snow piles almost gone. Grass just tinged with green. No real growth yet.
Entrance Daffys (driveway/road lots of sun) just popped green shoots on Thursday through snow piles. I noticed buds yesterday. The ones around the new septic area are starting to break through.

FYI from Morse talk yesterday

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/mystery/essays/farewell.html

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/mystery/essays/exit.html

Links to others at bottom. They load fast ( dial-up) and are interesting. I have seen a few Morse episodes. Did not know they were that old nor that he (both actor and the character)had died.

LLUDWIG - Cool on Swifty's start up. Is he selling shares?

BILL – Think you might have been watching an old Pawn like 2010, 2009 or older. Do not think he uses “my man” anymore. That bugged me to. He is only in his early 20’s right? So he is still maturing. However his father in 40s has not finished maturing either so…..
Also do not like the mean name calling and do wish they had better grammar.

Pawn Stars had one “expert” on 4 year old show or so that was wrong on an item so I also now wonder on validity of experts on other items.
The item was a McClellan cavalry saddle and ‘expert’ said since the seat was only 12 inches it had to be a child’s saddle (or some such). Twelve inch was the bigger size of McClellan’s. One rode very upright, almost standing, not on their butt. Think the guy also said something about lack of padding. Well saddle was for comfort of the horse NOT the rider. I still have about 10-12 of my McClellans. Used to have over 20.

Morning - Thanks BETH and JIM.
Kept getting knocked off line every time I came to post last night. But got answer to one question beacause of the getting knocked off. The little bit I did have "loaded" (do not know if that is what it actually did but I caouls play the it when off line.

BETH - The link you gave me has two click places. One goes right back to the bad WGN page but the "play" button pops up a Quick tunes / iTunes (?) bar that looks just like what I used to get from the WGN site.

I think I can also just change the date in the url to get the show I missed. Will test now.

Hi CLEM - We usually keep missing each other.

MIM - hope you are settling in well.

If it only comes in as streaming then I probably won't be able to listen to it on computer anymore. Thanks for trying.

Morning

Wondering if someone could go here
Mr. Fix It full show: March 16 hour 1
and tell me how this podcast works.
For years I got this show on my dial-up connection. It took about 40 minutes to load but then I had it I could even be off line ( as long as I had not shut down) and listen as I chose.

THEN... they totally changed the website and did not have my show. They must have gotten a lot of complaints because they have brought it back. HOWEVER I can not get it to load past the first minute or so. Actually I don't know if it is even "loading " in the way I know loading.

Thanks for any input.

BTW... This is the FIX-IT guy I listen to Saturday mornings ( unless I over sleep) He is awesome. It is call in show. I put my own wood floor down with his advice. He was a full time contractor builder and then an occasional guest on WGN's mid morning radio show in the early 90's (approx). That led to this Fix-it show and a regular feature now on NBC Today show and another TV show on Sunday.
For you fix it people you might like it too. I glean lots of info from him. It can go from wood to water to roofs to cement and varmit removal and all in between.

Hi everyone.
Back from Illinois doctor. Was delayed a day due to snow that hit on Monday. Wasn't so much the snow but the wind. The system when right up the path I needed to travel. I have been on that Interstate in snow and wind, in the past, and had no desire to repeat the experience. On that trip I was already at point of no return, when it hit, and it took 3+ hours to travel a normal one hour route. It is not fun to only be able to see the inside of your windshield.
Was lucky to changed motel and ferry reservations and got home Wednesday PM. Got the last place on boat for Wed. Had less time for grocery shopping and ended up forgetting a lot of items. Oh well.

For the first time since Mom moved in, 4+ years ago, I hit a half price sale in the home's thrift shop. I usually just miss the sales. Think they only do it two times a year.

Found a nice crock, good size, that looks like it will be perfect for utensils. I'm using a plastic cup now and it keeps falling over. It is oatmeal color with two ( I think) blue bands. Was surprised later when studying it that it is Roseville. It was only $2.

CLEM/PAULA I may need to ask you about it. Newer maybe? with incised stamped marks.

In the book area I got a nice older Courier and Ives book. It has some color plates and lots of b/w. It is just for me, as I found it interesting.

Saw much nice glass and wished I had more $$$ and time to research.
Saw a heavy glass vase that I liked, interesting shape, 18" or so high almost hour-glass shape but the top curved in and it had a scalloped edge. .Also had what I think is wheel cut pattern trying to learn) only $17,
A set of 8 stemmed sherbets? only about $17 also. About 4-5" across top with flat bottom, compote shape with cranberry down and inch or so from lip.Had pattern in glass to. Not sure what type the color process is called, but it looked to be fired or melted on. Not like a paint on top of the glass.
Many, many other nice pieces.
Almost bought a modern bud vase. Heavy crystal, like a block of glass with hole drilled down center and a simple cut pattern on one side that was like grass slightly blowing in a breeze. It had a small scratch and money was tight so I just said "no". It was only $4 at half price. Wish I had had more time to decide.

I wonder how BSAPPY is? I think she may be right in the thick of the storm. Someone on the Glass board has four feet of snow up here dorrs and can not get them open. She is OK hunker down it seems but hope she has an escape plan incase of emergency.

I am surprised that so many here still have power. Thought more boarders might have gotten knocked out.

We were below zero again last night. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain. If it does it will be a mess what with the foot plus of snow we have on the ground now.

Happy Holidays to all!

All times when fingers were 'typing able' I was working on buttoning up farm for winter, off to chiro, no or bad internet connection and sometimes just in a general funk. Had a whopping 10Kbps for a while but was too hard to connect. that went on for a week or two. Had a few power failures also. I swear each time that I had time anf had good fingers the computer had issues. I KNOW! It's a conspiracy. LOL Had a really good adjustment in November but it is the nature of the injury for thigs to slip out again.

BOOK BOARD

DIANE/FURTIMA hope you heal fast.

MIM Hope DH improves quickly.

GLASS BOARD

See some have had issues here too. Hope all get through them.

I will try to not be a stranger in future. Have to finish packing I am heading to Illinois and chiro, again, in less then two hours. Good winter driving today, so '"they" say. New used suburan handles pretty well in the ice and snow that I have had here. We only got about 3 inches of snow because we were so warm it rained for much of the storm, Trade off is I now have skating rink under snow. We still had the 50 plus MPH winds and had no boats running on Friday.

100 plus heat indexes, 90 actual temps DewPoints in high 70s for weeks and weeks. One day DewPoint "dropped" to like 71 and temp to low 80's. lol I usually am brain dead at 65 dewpoint and mid seventy temps.

MNEWVILLE - Take batteries out. Leave open to air dry for days, maybe. Twist and turn periodically to let water drain from areas. Do on paper towel works pretty good. Use air blowing from hair dryer after obvious water is dissipated. Give it extra drying time after looks good for hidden water to dry. People I know who have done this with phones and other remotes let them sit about a week.

RIP MAUREEN and MAINER111. I miss you.

Diane - I saw you asking about me the other day. Thanks for asking. I am OK just busy and therefore too tired to post. Sorry Rowdy does not like to noise. Penny hated it to but Teddy does not mind.
Played catch-up after I got back with the”new” 12 year old car in early June. Then, I started lessons plus hired muscle was here a few times to fix fence, etc. Then was off to Illinois again for Dr appoint and It was 95 to 100 plus the 5 days I was there. Yuck. But it was less humid than what awaited me at home.
Got very loose bridged 4 tooth crown re-cemented. Was worried it could not be done but it came totally out at dentist and is very solid now. Whew. He also touched up the one I cracked in half in March, when I fell, and that now is very solid (or as solid as it will every be). I like to say he did some tuck-pointing. LOL

Brought Mom back with me this trip. She is in her house down the road and will stay till just after Labor Day this year. She is managing to cook on the gas stove. She was afraid that she would not be able to see the flame. She cooks all the time at home ( in Illinois) but has electric in the retirement home.

The car did well on it’s first trip. A/C work very well. Still do not know how big the gas tank is. still testing how much MPH I am getting. Used cheap ethanol gas. Have not done a good test with ethanol free super, yet. Getting used to new nooks and crannies and where to put what but have misplaced my check book. It is an a box somewhere that I used when stuff I transferred from old car to new. Getting used to the icky leather seat and have on gotten stuck to then one time so far., Teddy slides on them, my sheep skin slides off them and everthing on the center console surfaces slide too. Will figure it out eventually.

We have had bad heat here but not as bad as some others. It was 98 heat index today Dew points close to 80, close to 90 actual temp. I did no trail rides today and tomorrow do think I will even be open. It is to be the hottest tomorrow and then cool into the low 80’s. Ha pretty funny for me to say ”cool into the low 80’s” . I don’t like it much over 65 or 70 and hate humidity.

The fire works will start soon and I will go to the top of hill to watch, when I hear the first one go bang.

Morning - Back from picking up the new used Yukon XL. All I need is a siren and a fireman's helmet and I am all set. You may or may not remember that I said it was BRIGHT RED. Really, really red. Got more than scrap price for the '93 not a lot more but anything more is great. He will part it out.
The new car has POWER, wow. Old one never had much umph even when newer. Don't know yet what kind of mileage I will get but seemed like close to old one. Will have to do more testing. I used A/C on way home plus had over a ton of feed and stuff in it which all can lower mpg.
Knew I had aminor couple of leaks when i bought it, but now have a crunking sound up fron. Strut? stabilizer? or something. Hear it on bumps on flat and when turning wheel. Harvey can look at it tomorrow. Go to Illinois doc in a couple of weeks so mechanic there can check it out but need to know I am safe to get down there.

Now waiting for Tramadol and Advil to kick in. I lifted a full bag of feed yesterday (I keep trying) and shouldn't have. Oh well.
Need to use the skidsteer, as we are nice and dry right now.

Any updates on CASINO, DADKAT AND MAUREEN?

DIANE set backs are a pain, Hope SIS can stay more upbeat but being depressed is part of it all too unfortunately.

BOB hope you find your book.

Interesting about the dreams. I, too, have been dreaming more lately about people from the old days who I have not seen in ages.

Hi everyone

Was supposed to leave today to go get the new used suburban. I did not get the new title and plates till last week. Hope I do not forget to take them. It is the GMC version. rather than the Chevy, so is now called a Yukon XL. Will most likely contiune to call it a Suburban as I will probably never get used to saying Yukon XL. LOL

Planning on selling car by the pound so putting as much of my scrap iron and tin inside as I cann.
Will sell my #2 insulated wire separately. Have about 40-50 pounds of that and it is at about $2 a pound now.

If a miracle happens, and I sell the Burb to someone to drive, I could get about $950 to $1000. Will not have a lot of time for that kind of sale. Poundage is the easist.

A friends SIL had a return to hospital after his open heart surgery started to leak blood into the pericardium. That surgery was done at major heart hospital in Midwest.
Personally do not think his home hospital, 400 miles away, did a good job of monitoring his Cumidin levels post surgery. They have a history of checking but then not adjusting levels on other meds.
Repair surgery was NOT done at his home hospital. They went to a very good, about a hundred miles away, facility.

Teddy has continued to learn. He almost heels like a proper obedience dog often with an automatic sit and also will wait for direction before getting a thrown stick. I can alternate between 'play' fetch and obedience fetch based on which words I use. Stay and take it for obedience and just a 'go get it' (or some such) for play.

Finally got the resident raccoon out of the tack room and then left the door open all night and it was back inside today. Ugh.

TEDFRED and BOOKLEAVES are well into their long awaited trip to far flung reaches. Hope they are having a super time.

DIANE - Glad Sis is doing better now and coming home. Have followed her return to hospital, but just have had no umph to post.

CASINO - Best vibes for you and Pat

BOOKDELLE - Belated happy B'day. How nice about the Bose. I understand they are marvelous
