Carol and Beth. We have often planted beets in our little gardens. I love beets, especially the first ones from the garden I had no idea that the leaves were good to eat. We usta get wild asparagus, which was wonderful. Hunted the Morel mushrooms too. Had to get up early to find them because the cows loved them too. Taste like nothing else. Wild apples were out there too but often full of worm holes. We had an orchard with marvelous apples potatoes and persimmons for sale near us so we bought lots. Fried apples with butter raisins and brown sugar or maple sugar, which ever was handy. Sometimes on a farm there isn't the time to do and do a lot of things so, if the produce was there at the side of the road or animals got into yours, you just bought other people's stuff. Twas a great way to meet your neighbors. They knew where we lived because they recognized our truck. lol. Miss it so very much.

DH filled the birdbath and boy are the robins having a time of it. Drinking a lot and bathing a lot in the same water. No accounting for some creatures taste. Those birds are like kids and chase some of the other birds away. Fun to watch too.
