Every once in a while, when I am feeling badly, I want to go to bed, pull up the kivers and read. Not something new where I have to really read, concentrate to realize the location, personalities and relationships of the main characters.
I want to read something that I have read before and be comforted by the words even though I know the outcome of the story. Comforted like wearing an old sweater and a pair of old house shoes. That is when I get down a Charles Dickens something, an Isaac Asimov robot tale or perhaps something by James Michener. That has happened a bit lately as the details of living and getting used to different health issues get to be in a worry zone. I recommend this type of reading as a tonic for a lot of things.
