Re: average amount people spend on Valentine's Day gifts. Nine people don't spend any money but the tenth person buys his girlfriend an engagement ring for Valentines at a cost of $5000. Hence, the statistic that the average person spends $500 for gifts. Silly but it sure makes it seems like people spend alot on that day.... Marson the lurker
