• Lost all of you for a couple of days...computer died. Got another laptop..works good for me and I stifll have my big computer So have been trying to learn the new one. This one has 11 in it which I hadn't had before so more to learn. I told the fellow (kid) that did mine I only knew where the on/off button was and then had to call him to find out where that button was on the new one. Hate it that no manual comes with much anymore. Anyway, too old to learn much.

Not doing well health-wise. Hope everyone is doing good.

  • haha JANE...I think I know how to spell happened...didn't see it until this morning...have fuzz brain.

    Good day to all.

  • Good Morning...

DIANE..I think that is so true with Christmas being the healing season. It is for me. We love Christmas and keep some up all year. We're so cluttered that people never notice and if they do, they just think we're weird. Thanks for the well wishes.

JANE...Thanks for the recovery words. Hasn't haddenpend yet, but, working on it. Have all kinds of home health workers here daily. Anything will help.

JIM...I hate that hacking stuff. However it doesn't take long with credit card to get it straightened out. Wish the hackers would get a real job.

For the rest..enjoy the day and stay safe.

  • Good Evening everyone...

Just a short note to check on everyone. Glad PATSY made the trip and sorry about the hacking. Also sorry about the family death.

JIM - your trip sounded and looked great. Wish we could still do it.

I have been in the hospital for a few days and am mighty glad to be home. Now getting signed up for all the therapy stuff and hopefully will gain a little. Very weak.

    Play safe .

  • Greetings from The Ozarks...

DIANE - Hope you are having a wonderful time and the GD is married.

ANN - We no longer do step ladders or step stools in this house. Someone else has to do it! Of course right when we go to bed one of the alarms start in and one surely can't listen to that thing over night.

JUNE - Our house is so quiet also. We had a niece and husband here for a few days and it seemed so good to have someone coming and going. They left on Thursday and went to the KC football game - racked up points with some of the family with the picture of Taylor Swift and flew back to CA late Friday night. We miss them!

JANE - Time for an update.

LYNNE: How are things in your part of the world?

Our life seems to revolve around food. Guess it is our only only entertainent now. We did Cranberry Chicken and Prime Rib while the "kids" were here.

We lost another dear friend this week...sure makes your heart hurt.

Everyone take care and have a good week.

  • Happy Birthday Patsy! Hope you have a great trip with your Sis...

A lot going on here. Have had company for a few days and that was good. They went to see "Shepherd of the Hills" play one night and got rained out shortly after intermission. How many of you remember that book? It used to be the second most read book and has now moved to third. Number one is the Bible. Don't know what two is right now. Anyway meals went well and I guess the visit did also. We hadn't seen our Grandson in a long time and he flew in from Denver so that was good. His wife has a brain tumor that they are battling...so sad. Just in early thirties.

Been watching our hummingbirds filling up for the flight and they sure are drinking a bunch. We don't put out feeders (our neighbor's all do) we have loads of red and pink plants.

    You all play safe today!

  • JANE...We are hot also. One point under boil. We are hitting 100 without dew point every day this week. Thank God and Carrier for the AC.

Hope the rain helps JIM. So many fires everywhere.

    Stay cool and safe everyone!

  • JIM - Is that smoke coming from the fires in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada? Have been reading about bad fires in the Okanagan Valley and Kelowna. We were on assignment in Kelowna for about two years. When we were there (1968 to 1970) population was 20,000. Yesterday I read where it is 150,000. We always went to Spokane to shop. Many changes!
    Stay safe.

  • JANE...No I didn't reserve it...just joking after I saw the price!! Glad to hear about the kiddo's..

  • WOW JANE....I just reserved the pink house for a couple of months. Actually I don't have that many friends and relatives left to take with me. I admire someone that can do that and make it work for them. Also, Happy Birthday late. They just seem to roll around faster and faster. Hope the Sunshine kids have been having a good summer.

Hope everyone else is doing okay.

  • Hi Everyone....One of the places in the Adirondacks that had significant damage was Long Lake, NY. All of that area has had so much rain. It seems every day and hard rains. I have talked to some of my family, but, several of them have been here so they could enjoy the heat! Which we were about a point below boil most of the time.
It was so much fun to have Connor (7) and Micheala (almost 9) here and watch them play tourist. Connor is seven going on thirty-two. Loves to read and likes the technical stuff. The Titanic and a cave tour he took were great for him. M is a pretty, prissy, dancer-type gal and she rode every adult roller coaster at Silver Dollar City - most twice and wanted to go again. No Fear! C- rode one adult coaster - got off and said never again. The adults all "said" they had a good time and I think they did. It was so good to see my sister. She now has memory problems which was sad, but, we didn't let it get in our way.
Must run - hope BETH is okay and the rest of you behave!!
    Gail

  • Beautiful day in The Ozarks today! Tourists are here and Table Rock Lake is one busy place. I watched the boats for a long time yesterday.

ANN - When we lost Gram it was almost the end of get togethers. My cousins were my best friends when we were growing up. We are down to just a few left and we are scattered. The "kids" that are visiting us are nieces and nephews and their kids. I had no children so I bought most of them off (this is a joke folks) and made sure I was the favorite aunt. When I married the current DH (seventeen years last week) he came with one son and one grandson. They are all good to us except for one and that is the way it is! She might be good to us but we never hear from her... so be it.

I'd give a lot for one of the Sunday dinners that we were altogether. Tables were filled and it was all the "good' stuff. As kids, we complained about the family reunions, called them the family rebellions. Fact was we were the rebels. The big family reunion was on my Grandfathers side and we didn't know them very well and it probably appeared as if we didn't want to either. They were really old people (like me now...lol) and I think they all had heart issues so it wasn't like they were going to join the ball game.

Enough of this...have a happy Sunday and remember our Veteran's.

  • PATSY Glad to see your final figures on FOL. It always amazes me how well you do on that sale.
Nice you have trip planned with your sister.

DIANE Hope your labs came out okay. I had a CT scan done this week and report on it was not to ugly. Could have been better, but, could have been a whole lot worse.

JANE: What have you been up to girl? Haven't seen you on here very much. Hope you are out of the snowbank for the next few months.

ANN: I dont know if we are fun to visit or not. However, they all come! We have them scattered from NY to Calif. and everwhere in between. I think we are handy being in the middle and they all get a little spoiling while they are here. My Mom always fixed our favorite foods when we arrived home so I try to do the same thing. We love it when they all come.

Better ring off now - hope everyone is doing okay.

  • Good morning to all....
Gloomy, cloudy day in The Ozarks. We've had rain off and on all week. Also, it has been very cool. Flipped the thermostat from AC to Heat several times this week. DH afraid to plant new plants because they keep saying we might get frost so we cover them with a sheet each night that the temp. goes down.

Got word yesterday that my Aunt had passed away. She was 93 and had had a good life most of the time. I called my sister last night and told her we were offically the "old group" of the family now as Aunt T (short for Auntie) had passed. Glad my sis is the older one!

We have company coming next weekend for a few days so that will be nice. Trying to get some food planned. I always try to fix their favorite foods. Spoiled, I know. That's what old Aunts do.

The leaves popped in a hurry around here. We have a double dogwood tree that we got at the nursery and it always blooms late. it's beautiful when blooming.

BETH - I am sorry you lost your cat. Darn animals just worm their way into your heart.

PATSY - Hope you are better after your fall. I hate all those "owies" in my old age. They just take longer to get over. Waiting to hear your total from your FOL

DIANE - Glad you helped your brother. Wish I still had mine to help.

Have to go and get busy. Hope you all stay safe!

  • Happy Easter to all. Hope you are having an enjoyable day. Our nephew is here visiting for a week so we are glad to have company. Some good food planned for today and hope to get it all on the table at the same time. I made the pineapple stuffing yesterday so that is ready for the oven. DH is making a peach pie so I may start with dessert first.

Our redbuds and dogwoods are blooming and it is beautiful. A little late this year as we have had screwy weather. Don't know how many times we have flipped the switch from heat to AC and vice versa.

Good to see Kathleen and catch up on her "boys" which were not very old when she was on the old bookboard.

Hope you all have a wonderful day - filled with food, fun and family.

  • Happy Birthday Diane!! Have a great day!

  • Spring is trying to pop in The Ozarks. Doesn't quite know what to do. We are 40 one day and 70 the next then back to 30. So we go from heat to AC and then back again. Quite a bit of rain.

By the way, I had a note from JoAnne and she is doing okay. Staying busy.

Not much happening around here just Dr's., tests and then start over again.

PATSY - I had a call just like that one on grandson and luckily I had just read about it a short while before. Knew enough not to say any grandson's name and he kept saying guess which one. I never said a name just told him he was a jerk and I wasn't falling for his line and he should really think about getting a real job. They drive me nuts.

DIANE - Glad your brother is better. Hope the knee heals properly.

Guess I better close. Our taxes are done and I'll try to figure out whether to call the undertaker or jump for joy!!!

Have a good one and stay safe.

  • Happy Birthday Lynne! You and St. Patrick all in one day. Hope you have fun today and many more.

Sun is shining in The Ozarks and starting to green up. Supposed to have a hard freeze this weekend and I hope it doesn't damage the peach trees.

Corned beef and cabbage here for dinner

    Have a wonderful day!.

  • Thanks for the birthday wishes! I am now the "new fifty"...that's what I've been telling my friends and family. Had a wonderful dinner at a newer restaurant and the food is excellent. Before we went to dinner we toured our friends new home. It is beautiful. New idea's and new stuff in it.

JUNE - Happy Birthday to you...have a great day!

JANE - Basketball is my favorite game to watch. That young man will never forget that game. Wish I would have been there ....you would have heard me. I love March Madness.

We have also been working on taxes and I think they are going to the CPA today.

The house has been fixed after the windstorm. It had ripped a couple of pieces of trim or fascia board off. One piece was still hooked on one end and the other end kept hitting the house for about two hours. We were not sure if we had shingles missing until the roofing people got here. We have a very high roof and this was at the steepest point.

ANN - I know what you mean on the price of four tires. Almost need a bank loan to put new shoes on Bessie!

PATSY - I never got over how much your library made on your annual sale. I now notice the one in Springfield and they do very well also. Unreal!!

DIANE - Our flowers are starting, but, you are are way ahead of us. We actually had a real winter here this year for Southwest Missouri. Hope its headed for Spring now.

JIM - Where and when is your next cruise?

Better sign off and get to work. Hope everyone has a great day and stay out of trouble.

  • We had the big wind here last night and have house damage. DH was trying to view it at two a.m. and finally decided he would have to wait for daylight. More later on this.

  • I believe Paula (Clementine) passed away a few years ago. She was from Lovell, Wyoming.

  • WOW! DIANE dropped the gold today! Sorry to hear about your eggs.

We have been surrounded by ice for over a week. I am getting mighty sick of it. Hopefully today and tomorrow it will get warm enough to start going away. It has been freezing every night so it takes a long time to get to 32 again. No one has been out of their driveways. The road crew threw all the slush stuff from the road over the end of the driveway so now we have the hump to get into the driveway. I'm starting to get "yugly" about it. Hope this is winter...we have had a real winter this year. This week we had about three days of rain - ice rain - sleet and snow. So we have several layers to melt. OK, I'm done complaining.

JANE - Loved the picture of the horse at Christmas! Beautiful horse.

PATSY - Really like the sandhill cranes. It's all that sleeping on one leg that I don't understand. Guess it's a crane thing!

Hope everyone is staying warm. Bitter in the Northeast.

    Stay safe...

  • JANE - Hope your Sis is doing better today. Whispering a prayer for her.

The heavy snow must have a tremendous effect on the roof. Wow, once it settles it is a lot of weight. Everything seems so expensive these days. We did septic tank, trees cut and car repairs between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Didn't know where to tie the big red bow!!

PATSY - Good to see you back on the BB. I don't think "being alone" on the Covid thing was good for any of us.

DIANE - I like the warmer better. Although, in Missouri I'm good with 50 in Winter.

Time to take the trees down tomorrow. We have had a busy week with medical issues. I had to have an infusion yesterday and it left me half goofy today..not sure which half!! DH had to see eye surgeon today and have little growths clipped off eyelids. Not serious, but, had to go to surgery center. Thank God for wonderful neighbors. I stayed home and neighbor took him.

    STAY SAFE EVERYONE

  • Happy New Year! Just had our boomer's here. Not to bad - rather enjoyed them. Welcome 2023...hope everyone has a good year.

    Stay safe!

  • Merry Christmas everyone! Same here - cold and for a change we have a white Christmas. My DH is thrilled! Right now we are watching a snow owl that is in a tree right off our deck. Trying to get a picture.

We have to be content with phone calls today. That's okay...we are often alone on Christmas. However, we are warm - eat well - talk lots..can't beat that.

Haha JIM..can just see those people bundled up. Have had several calls from family and friends and the Florida ones are the loudest!

Stay safe and have a wonderful day.

  • When Salmegal packed up her stuff and headed South I thought she was a very brave lady. I still think so. My late husband traveled foreign and sometimes it was a little scary
I was amazed at what she had to go through to get her permits, licenses and finally get open to have guests at her place. It was amazing! Glad to know she is still among us and sorry about her sister.

Like the pictures of The Christmas Horse Jane...cute grand also!

    Stay safe and play fair!

  • Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We had a niece and her husband that came from the Wichita area and we sure did enjoy having them. They are both wonderful cooks and we let them have free rein while they are here. Only time the veggies for salads are precision-cut and look wonderful. She has celiac disease so we work around that and just get on with some serious eating.

Have you all started your Christmas shopping? Afraid most of our gift-giving will be cash and suppose they would rather have it anyway, but, do miss the individual shopping.

JANE..Love your horse tree. We have four or five up and a few more to go. One on the deck just has lights on it and its sitting here in the box yet.

I know JIM doesn't travel with his turkey anymore....read online last week the do's and don'ts of air travel and a frozen turkey was okay. Either it happens a lot or they remember Jim real well.

Hope this finds everyone safe and sane!!

  • BETH...How much snow do you have? Are you in the path of the big snow?

    Stay Safe!

  • WOW JANE! Those kids are really grown up now...they sure look wholesome and happy.

JIM...I like your weight prediction...looks trrue to me says the lady who needs to lose 20 lbs.

    Still having medical issues here.

    Stay sate.

  • Beautiful picturres Beth. Thanks for posting them. Not very pretty in the Ozarks this Fall. We need rain!

Been on the "puny" list and not up to much. Hopefully will start feeling better soon.

    Stay safe and play fair.

  • Just checking in to see if JIM had reported in from his trip. I hope the hurricane isn't tossing him around like a balloon!

Not much news on this end of the Pike. It is still very warm here. Low 90's today. Supposed to be warm all week.

    Stay safe!!

  • DIANE - Glad you are feeling a little better and got good test results. My niece got covid about three weeks ago and she is still coughing also. She is supposed to come this weekend so hopefully she is better. She did go back to work this week.

Finally got some rain which has helped our drought a little. We were in Springfield on Monday for a Dr's. appt. and it rained so hard we couldn't leave the restaurant for about thirty minutes after we finished eating. Luckily no one was coming in either so didn't have to worry we were taking someone else's seat.

Not much news around here. Hope everyone is doing okay and has a nice Labor Day with good food, family and nice activities in your area.

    Stay safe.

  • Happy Birthday JANE! Hope you are having a great day.

    Everyone stay safe and cool...

  • What a good story JIM...i had forgotten about the belt in the back on the chino britches. Cool!!!

We finally got a little rain yesterday. At least it knocked the dust balls off. It greened us a little but, still a lot of brown out there.

    Stay safe.

  • WOW JUNE...we're drier than a bone!! We have not had a drop. Glad you are safe and dry.

  • JUNE - Wondering if you are getting the inches of rain that have been falling in the St. Louis area?? Hope everything is safe and dry at your place.

Still hotter then the hereafter here! Got to change my ways if this is a sample.

    Stay safe everyone.

  • Good Morning All..
Hot plus hotter in The Ozarks! This has been a long spell and very little rain. We are dry and brown.
We had a houseful of company. Four extra for a week and then two more for the weekend. They all left Sunday at the same time and we sat here and looked at each other...it was way to quiet. We so enjoyed them. Both of the younger kids have graduated college and it's interesting to visit with them and see the chosen professions at the moment. They amaze me on their goals and what they plan to do.
Of course, with good news comes bad news. Our grandson's wife has been dx with a brain tumor. They are just starting on the journey so don't have a plan yet on treatment etc. They live in Denver. They are in Ca. this week meeting with Dr's. They were just married in June. Sad times for them and us.
Guess covid is flaring up again. We did go out for dinner last night then I heard about the big increase in covid. Can't win!! It was to hot to cook.
    Stay safe!

  • Diane - We have had a lot less fireworks this year. The family/private displays are just not doing it. We think it is the money angle of it. It's okay as last year they went on forever. Another thing is that the weekend was a long one. Fireworks started on Friday night here and we have had them every night. So we are up to the fourth night.
We had our niece and husband and enjoyed them a bunch. Seemed good to have some life in this old house. They live in Kansas and are about five hours from us.

As I was reading about the moving men - my late husband and I made our first move from Upstate (Northern) New York to Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Kelowna to Tulsa, Oklahoma..Tulsa to Casper, Wyoming and then from Casper to The Ozarks. Always heard three moves were as good as a fire. We lost some stuff, but, could use one of those long moves now to get rid of "stuff"...

    Play Safe..

  • Happy Fourth of July to all...

    Stay Safe!

  • JANE--I hit the wrong button and it opened the BB and here is the picture.
Oh My! That is wonderful...how that little girl has grown up right before our eyes. The horse is a beauty too. You should be a really proud Gramma. Lovely.

  • Good News DIANE! Glad things are going okay. I didn't have any trouble with either of mine. However, unless it's your eye they are working on it doesn't make much of a difference. As I remember, the colors were so bright.

JANE - Good job on the horse and DGD...looks like a winner. We need a picture of the two of them.

A couple of years ago I asked the bookboard people to send a birthday card to my great nephew. He was going to be four and everyone was so nice to him. Today he graduated from kindergarten..woohoo now a big first grader! He lives in upstate NY, but wants to get to Missouri to play chess with DH. Planning a trip for next summer.

    Play Safe,

  • JANE---Are the storms near you? Reading where parts of Wisconsin are getting hit hard with rain, wind, etc. Hope you and yours are okay.

JOANNE--Thought I read a note from you on the price of groceries. I don't know where it will end, but hope we can all eat to get to that end!

DIANE--Are you doing okay? Are you planning on going to your art group again?

It is still unbearably hot in The Ozarks! We have a new home going up next door and I sure feel sorry for the workmen. Not sure how the old folks survived without air conditioning--they were one tough bunch!

    Stay safe!

  • Good to hear from you JUNE! Thought my bookboard connection was broken. Not much new here either. Raining this morning and supposed to clear out by noon. Have our "outside helper" coming today to plant some more hostas...our's got beaten up in a recent hailstorm. The good news was our roof does not need to be replaced.

    Play safe!

  • Sounds like a fun trip Jim. Enjoy!!

Fifty-six years ago today I was married. It rained hard in the morning and then cleared off and the sunshine came out and stayed. We were married for thirty-six plus years and he passed away. We were involved with the Mining industry so it took us many places. My DH was pretty well all over the world. After fifteen years we bought a resort and campground in The Ozarks and I am still here. Its been a pretty good life. I married again in 2006 and this week we celebrated sixteen years together. Doesn't seem possible!
Been a great week for two of my nieces...one graduated from Sacremento State and the other one is a Junior in High School - got Athlete of the Week in the North Country for her softball skills. She also won a very nice scholarship for four years and a band award. She had one hour last week from end of game to dress on for prom.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    Stay Safe.

  • Thank you to all who served and paid the ultimate price. You will never be forgotten.
Have been watching some of the events at Arlington National Cemetery. My DH will be buried there and his first DW is buried there.

BETH - I think we have a set of those bells. You turn your money over fast!! Way to go.

Sure good to have two days of sunshine. Was very windy yesterday and the boater's were crazy on the water. We had a couple of accidents and hopefully they will act better today.

    Stay Safe.

  • Nice picture JIM...good looking couple - not a day over fifty!! Also, congrats on the champagne, are you now Pinnacle people? That would be a lot of water miles. Still love the turkey story though.

We have had rain, hail (have to have our new roof checked again) and bad thunder & lightning storms. Today has started out cloudy and dry!

    Stay safe!

  • I may have mis-led you on the Publishers Clearinghouse calls or any others. Unless the call has a name that we recognize, we answer nothing. Somedays we get fifteen robo calls and I cannot be bothered. Most of them do not leave a message. Glad we have the answering machine on the home phone.

Glad you are home JIM and I hate standing in one of those lines.
JUNE - Wow on the jackhammers. I might have to leave the house while that was happening.

Did anyone see the eclipse of the moon on Sunday night? We were clouded over here. However, my niece and her DH are on vacation in Galveston, and she sent me several pictures when it was happening. Wish we could have seen it in real time.

    Stay safe everyone.

  • Hot in The Ozarks! Whew, when the heat hit, it came with a vengeance. Thankful for air conditioning.
BETH - Sorry about your DH. Scary stuff. Hard to wait on the results on tests. I don't have any patience for hurry up and wait. Hope things are okay.
JUNE - You are right on all the talking. Sometimes I forget what I'm watching. And...the commentators think we are real interested in all their words.
DIANE - I used to love company. Lots of it and all the time. However, now that I cannot run around and wait on everyone or fix big meals, it's not much fun. It's mostly relatives now as so many of our friends are gone.
JOANNE - I guess they called you when I didn't send them money. This week Publisher's Clearinghouse has 3.5 million to 8.5 million that my DH has won along with the new Mercedes (who would want an old one) just punch the button and it will all be yours. So wait for the call. I get so many scam calls a day its sickening. I even checked to make sure we were on the Do Not Call list. We were. They must not have gotten to the "M's" yet.
    Play safe everyone!

  • Sorry DIANE and JoANNE....brain must have had a blip.

Glad everyone enjoyed Mother's Day as best they could.
We so enjoyed the Kentucky Derby on Sat. Really liked it afterward when they traced the route of the winner.

Have our helper guy coming today so hopefully will get some outside stuff caught up.

    Stay safe!

  • Mother's Day in The Ozarks is one windy day!! Blowing everywhere. Flag was straight up this morning.

JOANNE - Glad you are getting out a little even if you are bending the ear off the librarian.

JIM - I'm jealous, but I will get over it. Sounds wonderful!

BETH - Hope the gout is better. I take a pill and have no problem. However, I remember how it hurt when I went to the Dr. with a pain.

    Play Fair.

Happy Mpther's Day to all the Mom's...you "done" good!

  • JANE - He's a beauty! Looks great.

Still raining in The Ozarks. Leaves are popping so fast and they are stealing my lake.

    Stay Safe.

  • Rainy in The Ozarks again. They have us down as rain every day this week. I have had some "bug" this week and hoping its headed South now. Have mostly slept through the past three days.

JANE - Waiting on pictures of WIZ. Hope your tests are okay...they love to have you worry two or three weeks in advance! It seems our medical care has gone from "we really care" to "what's your number" - I don't like it much...I liked being hovered over---more!

JUNE - Hope the new baby does well. I always try to baby them because this one might be the one that makes me go to the Home or takes care of me!!! LOL

  • Whoops!! It wasn't me that broke the wrist, it was DH..That's why I was moaning about all he does around here. Anyway, we are glad that it is healing. I had CT scan yesterday, got my drive license for three years and did lab work for Dr.s appt. next week with the oncologist.

    Play Fair...

  • WooHoo!! Splint off wrist after two months. Appears to have healed well. We shall see. Put the splint back on to sleep last night. I found out how much he really does around here.
JoAnne - Glad you got out among them.

Jim - Smooth sailing - sounds like a good trip.

Jane - Hope you are doing okay.

June - We are still feeding the birds here. We don't put out hummingbird feeders. The neighbor does and we have a lot of plants that they come to. Have been watching to see if we need to quit feeding. We have always fed year-round. They may not need it, but I need it...love to watch them.

    Stay Safe everyone!

  • Sorry I haven't checked in for quite some time. Had some medical issues and then my DH fell - slipped on the acorns that were covered with leaves. Broke his wrist in two places. Hope he is getting near the end of cast, splints and me cutting his food. He has done quite well with one hand, but, a few things are still a challenge.
JoAnne - Made my heart hurt to see your son had passed away. I am so sorry. You have had plenty of sad things happen this year. Hang on to the good memories and they will get you through most days.
JIM - Happy Birthday to you. We need to do that move but would need a bulldozer to go from room to room. Way to much stuff!
We are trying to bloom and have Spring here in The Ozarks..winter wants to stick around. Yesterday it was 70 at 6 a.m. then had to cover the bleeding hearts before we went to bed. We just seem to have one or two days of wonderful and then three or four days of wonder what were getting now.
I missed several birthdays and hope you all had a good day on your special day. I wracked up a big one in March..went to bed and got up old!! It does beat the alternative!
    Stay safe.

  • Happy New Year to all... Hope 2022 is good for you.

    Stay safe!

  • JANE - I thought maybe the tornadoes were near you. Sounds like the wind was terrific.
Glad you are safe. Stay warm!!

  • JANE - Were the bad storms near you? It looked like it was near Minneapolis. Hope everrything is okay.

Still having good Fall weather in the Ozarks until Saturday. Winter will let us know it still comes around.

    Stay safe and warm.

  • Merry Christmas to all! I hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends and the people you love. May 2022 bring us out of the black cloud of covid.
    Hugs.

    70's expected today weather-wise.

  • A little laugh for your day!
On Monday I ordered some stuff through Amazon. At the end of my billing they put in two magazines that I might like to order. They picked these two from the items that I order.
    They would be:

Reader's Digest - Large Print and Reminiscence
Sure gave us a big laugh and they are probably "spot on"....

    Stay safe and Hugs.

  • JIM - So glad that is not your ship! Enjoy your cruise as it sounds wonderful.

i am still trying to get cards out and they should all have them by Valentine's Day.

Hugs to those that need one..Stay Safe

  • Good Afternoon Friends...

Just read on-line and hope JIM and Mrs. JIM are okay. I think this was the ship they were on. Symphony of the Seas, Royal Caribbean...many cases of Covid when they tested everyone. Wish this stuff would go away..

Suppose everyone is working toward Christmas. Wish I had some of DIANE'S gingerbread men..they are really cute Look very nice on the tree.

BETH - I hope your smished face is doing better. I hate to fall on ice. It hurts your body in places you never knew you had! I, too, ordered most items through mail. I sure sputter about the shipping fees so try to avoid them if I can. Word to the wise..don't ship an antique fly rod...Three dollars off a hundred to get from Missouri to Montana.

DH has been decorating the house and has seven trees up and I think that is it. They go from three ft. to seven ft. I love our main tree as it turns. Makes you use good Christmas ornaments on back as well as front.

We are having prime rib for Christmas dinner and I hope another couple will join us. If not, we will have lots of leftovers. Just the usual things with it so keeping it simple.

JANE..Is your snow gone? They are saying we may be 74 on Christmas Day..Works for me, but, DH would like the white stuff on the ground.

JoANNE-Are you doing okay and will you have company for Christmas? Haven't seen you on here in awhile. Keep us posted.

ANN - Sounds like you have been doing some serious reading. I don't do the mystery books because my heart beats so fast! Enjoy your posts.

JUNE - We had wind the other day also..We had a time keeping stuff on the porch and deck. Glad you are doing okay.

Have to go and do something productive...because it has not happened so far today!

    Stay Safe and Play Fair.

  • Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Hope you have plenty to eat and family and friends to enjoy it with. We have our niece and her husband here and we are so happy that they came for a visit.
JIM - I spent quite a bit of time in Spokane and really liked that area. My first DH and I were on assignment to Kelowna, British Columbia straight North of Spokane and we used to visit and shop there often. Also, loved Idaho.
DIANE - Sorry about your friend. We have lost so many friends the past two years - hardly have any left.
BETH - Congratulation's on your anniversary. That is a long time to be with one person.
If I add both of my marriages together then I hit fifty+ ...
Better go check the bird...Hope you all have a wonderful day.

  • JOANNE....So sorry to learn Jack has passed away. Tuck all the good memories in your heart.
Am glad that Jim is with you and will help you get through the next few days.

  • Beautiful picture Jane! Granddaughter, horse and tree all looking good. Hope things are good in your "neck of the woods"...

Not much news here. Trying to get things tidied up before winter. Need to call the tree trimmer/remover fellow next.

    Stay safe everyone...play fair!

  • Stay Safe Jim! Enjoy the cruise!

  • JOANNE..Glad for the update. At least you can go to the nursing home now to visit with Jack. Glad your son came for a visit.

Not much happening around here. Weather has been great...80+ during the day and 60's at night. Finally getting some trimming done. All the bushes and shrubs looked like they were having a bad hair day.

    Stay safe!

  • JoANNE - Hope things are going okay with you. Send us an update on Jack. Has your son visited from OK recently? Hugs

  • JUNE - My late husband covered the area in northern Quebec that you mentioned. That is when we learned about bush pilots. He had some very interesting flights in and out of Quebec and Labrador. Most of the places he went to had railroads as they had to get the product out to ship to other places. Other than bush pilots, they had one airline named Gaspe Airlines. We used to call it "Last Gasp"....but, they got him in and out many times. Best trout fishing he ever got to do was in that area.

We are still warm - 80's - 90's - I think it is going to change this week.

DIANE - I am sorry about your friends. It is sad how many friends we have lost in the past two years. Some because of covid and other's with crappy things - like cancer - strokes, etc.

LYNNE - I remember when you took one of your trips and I wondered if I would be "brave" enough to do it. I enjoyed reading your story about people you were meeting and having lunch with. Thought you were pretty "gutsy" at the time! I think quite a few pictures were posted at the time. Happy it turned out so well.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and week..

    Stay safe.

  • BETH - Hope your health problems can be taken care of quickly. You amaze me with the amount of items you have listed! How do you keep them all straight? I'd be mailing the wrong item to the wrong person. You must be totally organized.

JANE - Not sending the advent calendar from Wisconsin this year or next either by the price! They are probably sold out by now and that shows you how much I know.

JIM - Have noticed prices have really gone up at the restaurants. All of them. Can't blame them as the food costs, delivery and employee costs have gone up so much. So, we eat out less - only so many pieces of the pie!

    Everyone stay safe!

  • WOWZER!! On the vegetables. They are beautiful. You must have "real dirt" - we have "real rocks."

JANE - I cannot believe how much your grands have grown! We have truly watched them grow up. They are "good looking" and so is the horse. Glad you got their picture on the board.

Still very hot here and hard to step outside.

    Stay safe everyone.

  • Sure glad to know JIM is having a good time and good precautions are being taken. Sure do envy them a little.

JOANNE - hope that you have seen Jack and things are progressing in the right direction I sure don't like all the rules and regulations they have right now, but, I just fall in line and follow like I am part of the good sheep.

BETH - Good to hear from you and know that things are okay with you.

ANN - I'm with you - lunch with a friend - coffee with another one. All those little things we took for granted in 2019!!

JANE - Hope things are going good with you and also with your Mom.

DIANE - I hate it when we lose friends. Last year was really bad for us and this year is a little better, but, not much.

JUNE - I am glad that you got to go to the book sale. Made me think maybe things were going to go back to normal - a little bit.

    Stay safe!

  • OK wake up everyone! No one has posted on here since Saturday.

I guess BETH gave up on us as she doesn't post on here anymore.

DIANE - am still laughing over your last art luncheon with one member missing. Hope your GD's plans all work. Sure hard to make anything work in today's world.

We have been combining meals with the neighbor who lost his wife to covid. He hates to eat alone and I don't blame him. Been there and done that and would eat cheese and crackers for dinner. So we eat together three or four nights a week.

We are getting a sprinkle here and that would be a little sprinkle - we really need a good rain. Won't have to dump the rain gauge on this little bit.

Today's house news would be a new water softener. They haven't called to tell us when, but, the price went up over $300 from the first call to the last...We had the present one for fifteen years so I guess it doesn't owe us anything. I think it was about $900. This one will go $1,500. Doesn't matter, we have very hard water and have to have one.

JOANNE - hoping the news from Jack is better. Sometimes a medicine makes them do funny things. I don't even have to take meds to screw up my cell phone! When I come back in my next life, I will be Techie!

Hope to hear from you soon. Stay Safe.

  • Thanks ANN...we are doing okay here. Just a hassle trying to get to hospital early and get checked in etc. Everything went well and we are thankful for that. Now, just have to heal..one cell at a time.

We had a very hot week and not very much rain at our place. The grass just crackles and the dust flies when you walk on it. We watched a big storm last night and it had a line drawn, where it stopped and started and we were on the stop side. Very weird watching it. A lot of thunder and lightening.

JOANNE - Hope Jack is doing okay. I hate it that you can't visit with him. Can you talk on the phone to him? Are you doing okay? Found out all the things Gar does around here and I tried to do some of them and some will remain undone. Thank God, we have wonderful neighbors.
He cleans up the kitchen every night after dinner. I took over that for a few nights...sure hope the Board of Health doesn't visit! So far this week, the water softener and the front door lock have decided to bugger up. Neither one fixed yet and we haven't had a flood or a robbery!

Hope JIM is having a great cruise. We love Alaska and wish we could do another trip to that great state.

Hope everyone has a great day...stay safe!

  • Happy Birthday Late - JANE!! Hope it was a good one and many more!

Beautiful here this week and compared to last week its wonderful.

JOANNE hope Jack is doing better and gets home soon.

DH is having a surgical procedure done on Monday so have to go for covid test on Thursday. Glad we are out of the headline news on covid and someone else has taken our spot. Not really what you want to be #1 in.

    Stay Safe.

  • that would be a "quick note" (to bad I can't spell).

  • Just a quick not to tell you that I had a note from JOANNE and JACK is not doing very well. I think it is keeping her busy and tiring her out. Running after a sick one will do that to a person.

We still have the heat button turned on - its a bummer! Thank God and Willis Carrier for the AC. Don't want to be without it!

    Stay safe..

  • Dang it! Got this almost written and lost it...Grrrrrrrr. Not that it was that great. Hit the wrong button.
JOANNE - We haven't heard from you in a few days and I hope things are going okay. Often wondered what tired me out when I had to go to hospital every day. Just sitting around and would come home whipped.

DIANE - WooHoo on the new car! Always have to keep the manual handy as I never remember "how to do it" and have to look it up again.

JANE - Hope your reunions are going well and that it is not to hot up there to talk!

We are so hot here. You can hardly breathe when you go outside. We had some new windows put in on Monday and our AC never shut off. Now I have to wait for painter to come on Monday and then maybe put some of the things back into kitchen.

    Stay safe.

  • Good Morning:
Everyone must have had a wild weekend or a busy one! No one has written since Friday.
JOANNE - Hope your DH is doing okay and hopefully is home.
DIANE - Had a good laugh over your luncheon and the one that wasn't there. One of the reasons that I never liked joining women's groups.
ANN - I think that you were talking about the day lilies. I love those flowers, but, you better look quick because they sure don't last very long. Your yard sounded colorful. We've had enough rain so we still have many flowers blooming.
JANE - Hope your Mom's hearing aide problem has been resolved and your life is getting back to normal.
I set up or broke in or lost all religion last week over two new cell phones. Found out how really dumb I am! Can't even talk their language let alone set up phones!
That's about it for news from SW Missouri - hot and humid and summertime in the Ozarks!

    Play safe!

  • JoAnne...Whispering a prayer for you and Jack. Keep us posted.

  • Good Morning Tuesday...
Hope this finds everyone having a better day. JOANNE and JANE things better shape-up soon. Hope Jack is feeling better and the hearing aid situation gets taken care of soon. I hate the "hurry up and wait" saga of life. Seems like we are always caught up in it.

We are just bumping or bungling along here. Trying to clear out the "wonderful" stuff we have saved...impossible task! The things we saved....unreal.

We are trying to be cautious about going places. Springfield, MO is leading the nation with covid and the hospitals are full and more. I look for another flurry in a week or so from the July 4th weekend. We had a lot of people in the area. People are anxious to go somewhere. With the Level 4 restrictions on it makes for a busy area locally. We love our tourists, but, common sense would help!!

Not much news. Glad JIM's trip was a good one.

    Play safe.

  • Diane - I am sorry that Paula has passed away. i believe she went by Clementine, but, I could be wrong on that. She lived in Lovell, Wyoming which is about twenty miles from Powell, Wyoming and that is where my late husband was raised. We went to Powell often and would go to a restaurant in Lovell - good food and beautiful roses in that town. She added so much to the old book board.

    Play safe.

  • HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!

Stay safe Jim and Mrs. Jim.

  • LYNNE - Thank you for that link. I had never heard of Amazon brushing. Wouldn't have had a clue about it. Something new I learned today. Sure a bunch of crooks out in the community!!!

Did anyone have anything great for dinner tonight? Our dinner would not hit the front page of "Chef No-it-all" great eats!

    Have a good evening!

  • JANE....I bet the eyelashes were for the headlight! Good to see you back on here and hope you are feeling okay now. How is the horse-showing business going?? Is your grandson still playing golf?

JiM - you are really good about leaving reviews...I'm not very good about doing that. Should know after ebay that feedback is needed and wanted. I always read on the treadmill when I was in rehab...a treadmill is so boring! I would rather watch butter melt.

DIANE - Hope you are feeling better. I like the pill I take for gout..takes care of my aches and pains. Have you been getting all of the rain?

Our thoughts and prayers for the condo people and the families in Floridia..how awful.

    Everyone stay safe!

  • How much time do you spend reading everyday?

I read in the morning for about an hour. My personal time to read with no interruptions. I use my Kindle a lot for my night time reading, but, rarely bring it out of the bedroom. It varies how long I read at night...anywhere from fifteen minutes to all night. Depends on how good the book is that I am reading.

Got a weather break for a couple of cooler days. Even had the patio door open yesterday.

    Have a good day everyone!

  • Nice bench JIM. Adds a lot to a nice area

We finally got out for dinner Friday night and it sure seemed good to sit down and actually converse with other people. The place was full and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Today we go to a 70th wedding anniversary open house. That sure is a long time. Have known this couple for oer 40 years and they are still "with" it. They live alone although a granddaughter and her husband do a lot for them. They lost a son this past year and that was a tough one.

Yesterday a friend stopped by that I hadn't seen since 2004. We talked as fast as we could! It was wonderful to see him. Told DH last night I didn't realize how much I missed people this past year.

We are still doing our rain thing. Hard to get the grass mowed, but, it sure is growing fast. Our cooler temps and rain have put it on fast grow.

DIANE - hope your luncheon was good the other day and you enjoyed getting out.

Have a great day everyone..stay safe.

  • Thanks BETH....and NO we will not forget!

  • JIM We watched two days of the golf match (it was raining here) and enjoyed watching Phil win again. It has been a long time for a win!! We watched the crowd and were afraid they would not be able to control them. There was a lot of people and I think they had been cooped up so long and might have had a little alcohol to add to it. Anyway, we were glad for the way it turned out.
Has anyone talked with BETH? Haven't seen her on here in quite awhile. Hope everything is okay with her.
JANE - Are you still on the mend to recovery?
JOANNE - Are things starting to open up near you? One of our favorite cafe's had a fire break out Saturday and it looks like it was a bad one. Happened right during the busy dinner hour. They had really good food - great service and decent price.
Hope you all have a good week - we are in our rainy period here and almost have to sleep with a lifejacket on - good job we live at the top of the hill.
    Stay safe!
    Gail

  • OK JANE - You are excused for MIA...that is scary stuff. DH had surgery for that a few years ago and has done fine with it and not had any problems. Expect every case is different.
DIANE - When I read about your wallpaper samples, it reminded me when we were doing dollhouses for the littles we used wallpaper samples on some of the walls.

Hope everyone has a safe day.

  • Going to Take-out Tuesday and then on to

    Woeful Wednesday (I cook)..

Stay Safe and have a great day!

  • Good Morning ...
Hope everyone is doing okay. Went next door for dinner yesterday and it was wonderful. Brought enough leftovers home so this will be no-cook-Monday!

JANE - where are you? You haven't been on here in quite some time. Hope everything is okay.

Been very rainy here. Lake is up and has a lot of floating limbs and stuff in it. Fishing is great, but, a little tough getting to their favorite spots.

    Catch you later.

  • We've had snow...about two or three inches. Heavy, wet and all gone. However, every tree we had looked like the flowering dogwoods! Have had two nights of frost. Although I'm not sure we had one last night. Hope winter is out of the system for now.
We have had several trees removed in the past few years and have some more to be worked on. It is expensive! Always make them show the insurance coverage and then I call insurance agent to make sure it is still in effect.
Hope everyone has a great day.
    Stay safe.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!!! Hope you have a great day and many more. So glad your wife is doing okay with the replacement...they don't let them stay down for very long. May she continue to heal.

We've had some rain and needed it. The woods are still beautiful with color. Our lilac bush/tree is in bloom and sure smells good when you go by it. By the way, I read the other day that you could eat redbud blooms in salads, etc. Believe I'll just admire mine on the tree. We really have plenty of food!!

DIANE - I think I would do more than yell and jump. One time, during an electric storm, fire shot out of one socket across the floor to another one. That ball of fire going across the floor almost did me in.

ANN - We sure miss having a dog as we are both dog lovers and had several over the years. My gout flared up a couple of years ago (probably longer) and Dr. put me on a allopurinol and I don't have any problems with seafood or chocolate and I eat plenty of both.

JUNE - Yes, restaurants still have surf and turf. I think its been so long since we have been in restaurants that it is a whole new world out there.

    Stay Safe Everyone.

  • JIM--Hope your wife gets along okay and that you do a good job as the caregiver. Amazing what they can do these days.
We have been "doctoring" again. I woke up with a fat, hot and sore leg last weekend. Finally went to Dr. on Monday and had ultra-sound for a blood clot on Tuesday. Don't have one, thank goodness. So, heat, elevated and antibiotics are getting it better. DH has had issues and has lost eight lbs. in just a few days. Not that he couldn't lose some weight, but, not that quick.
The Ozarks are in full bloom. It is almost breathtaking! The redbuds are beautiful this year and the dogwoods are just starting to pop. i saw more of the sarvius/service berry this year as it comes out first and is white then the redbuds and then the dogwoods. All of this is wild so it is everywhere you look. Most people when they build mark the trees so they don't cut down any of the above.. We do have one double dogwood that we got at the nursery and planted. It blooms later than the wild ones and lasts longer.
Hope everyone is doing okay. JANE--I just love the PEEP-show. People have such a great imagination.
Have a great day and stay safe.

  • Happy Easter Everyone! Enjoy the day.

  • Happy Birthday Diane! Whoop it up today - it's your day!

  • Happy Birthday Lynne. Hope you have a great day!!!

  • Good Morning Fellow Bookies
We've been in a fog-bank for three days and headed for the fourth. However, no snow, ice, tornadoes. A big amount of rain. Once, yesterday, the fog broke up for awhile and I realized we still had our lake.

Not much of anything interesting happening here. House repairs happening and some Spring planting by DH. Trees are starting to bud.

JUNE, I hope your bones get straightened out soon. I hate that when I get up with "owies" doesn't seem fair. Some mornings I sound like Rice Krispies..snap, crackle and pop. Whew...that's an old one!!

Everyone have a good day, stay safe and play fair. We're working on taxes so hope we have hair left by the end of the day!,

  • Happy Birthday JUNE. I hope you have a great day. I tell all of mine that the best babies were born in March! Have two convinced of it. They have birthdays this next week.

    Stay safe everyone.
