• Jane @mysteryhorse - Thanks. testing...

Jim @danisjg - I could not believe how long it has been since I last posted. Time Flies!

As some may recall, my son collected Tom Swift books hence the nickname given to him by a bookman. He sold his collection to finance his diet of Raman Noodles when he was working on his first start-up which he later sold.

  • @mysteryhorse - Oh, it is great to see you too! Yes, I miss the 'boys' a lot, Covid was tough in not seeing them for a long time. Hope all is well with you. Is it possible to correct typos on here?

  • Thanks @mysteryhorse, it's a few weeks away but coming soon.

  • @mysteryhorse Mystery I got the promotion notice.

10bbg10 is a seller ID which I haven't used in several years.

  • Good Morning from Penn's Woods where more beautiful spring weather is on tap.

Although tomorrow is Swifty's last day of work as an employee, the company will be hiring him as a consultant on a "as needed" basis. Number of hours and length of time is undetermined. Hopefully the number of hours will work out to a nice balance with his work on the start-up. It will be nice that he has a bit of a cash flow.

LLB is looking forward to moving back to San Francisco sometime in late June. He had hoped to move back in April or May but first the guy he was training left and then the renovations house of his fraternity brother's mother won't be completed until mid-June. It was supposed to be done in April. He was quite surprised when he returned from a week in SF to find the guy he was training gone! However, a new person is in place and he is now training him.

Yesterday we went to a book sale where we picked up a lot of Heritage Press books. We are Friends at this local library so was there for the preview.

Irene @lovetohike ~ The weather of the Denver area has always amazed me! While this state and many states have the old saying of "If you don't like the weather now, wait a minute and it will change," where you live really has the extremes from one day to the next. Short one day, mittens the next, and back to shorts and snow all melted by the next.

@mysteryhorse ~ Hope your snow melts away in a flash and spring comes and stays!

  • @mysteryhorse Thanks, for the satinrose tip. It surely does look like nothing. And a 5th printing?

  • @mysteryhorse, I believe that the problem is caused by the 'not sure of size'. Maybe put in actual measurement ' chest 28 - lgth 14' --- 2T or 3T.

  • @mysteryhorse Congratulations!!! Well that successful plumbing adventure started the month of on a good foot.
Funny little story. The 17 year old youngest grandson got his DL on Thursday. DD had bought a car for him from our son who lives in a St. Louis suburb . DD, DGS and DH would meet the DS and his DW half way to get the car. DGS was most anxious to get behind the wheel and start home while the other 4 people would like to visit a bit. DGS got back to the interstate and started west instead of east. He had driven 20-30 minutes before he discovered and corrected his error. Do we dare tease him about this? Probably not--- at least not for a few years.

  • @bookdelle Carol, Congrats to your DD . It has been fun and interesting to watch her progress---- progress is not the word I want but it will have to do for now.
@mysteryhorse Adorable Sunshine Kids. Look like Santa is having a pretty good time, too.
Hope your DH is feeling better.

  • @mysteryhorse Thanks. I think that you see the problem that i am speaking about. Guess I had better change my method of giving feedback.

  • @mysteryhorse I use and depend on Items Specific on almost all of my listings. I have 'Shipping charges # 1 Free shipping to US zip Codes" and "Shipping charges # 2 Reduced international shipping" For international buyers I use Flat Rate Shipping with 2 separate rates. With that I can set the shipping for Canada & Mexico at one price. With the rest of the world at a higher price. I always try to make sure that the Shipping charges # 2 is at the top of the list so the buyer sees that first--- I think. I'm not really sure what the prospective buyer sees but I shipped at least one international package every day this past week. And have one international order waiting for the Tuesday shipping.

  • @mysteryhorse My chief concern about enrolling in the Global Shipping Program is that I offer free shipping to US zip codes on most of my listings . To give the international buyer some advantage I offer them a discounted shipping rate. This is my own system and the discount is based on the weight. Canada and Mexico get one rate while the rest of the world is charged more. If I enroll in the Global Program am I going to have to revise every listing that has that discounted rate?

  • Good evening BBers,
I had a prospective buyer make a very low offer which I declined with no counter offer. Buyer erred and clicked to buy the item at full price. Of course she wants to cancel the transaction. Had never had to have a transaction cancelled before so had to figure that one out. Frustrating.
That made me so tired that I had to go take a pre-bedtime nap. LOL. Think maybe if I get such offers again I'll just let them expire with no response.
Did get the payment from my last slow paying buyer.
@mysteryhorse The cheese head bed gave me a chuckle. I needed that.
    See y'all in the morning.

  • @mysteryhorse Your sunshine kids story made my day. I'll be smiling about that for weeks--- maybe years.
We just got back from our voting adventure. Looks like we are having a good turn out. Our voting place had 4 precincts voting there so it draws from quite a wide variety of our human race.
However It was a bit of a trial for me to vote this time as I voted from AV Rehab in the 2012 Primary so my name got put over on that precinct. I had to go that precinct today . Fortunately, that was not very far and I was familiar with the address--- a Catholic School where I have been to many rummage sales. There were only 2 precincts voting there. A good turn out but the voters were in general much younger.

  • After reading about the new Lincoln movie I slept really well for the earlier part of the night. Then wide awake at 2:00 a.m. I've gone to a theater to see only one movie in the past 20 years and that was to see "Julie and Me." I may have to go see the Lincoln movie when it comes around. .

@grano9 Patsy that is 627.581 books. Wonder who got the .581 book. LOL

@mysteryhorse --- Those adorable children !!! Yes, of course, all LRRHs wear tulle dresses under their capes. The wolf said " the easier to look at you my dear."

  • Well our photos are no longer showing on ebay. The gallery pix (the one at the top of the page) still show, but the ones in the main body of our description are down. At first I thought it was because two the listings were very old and that something was amiss. Swifty then informed me that the subasement where his server is located in Albany is underwater and that is why we had no pixs. Sounds like a reason for me to call it a day off! LOL Not really I could still write descriptions and DH could upload and have lots ready to go when things get back to normal.

The photos of snow in Virginia and West Virginia are something, esp for this time of the year. From what I understand a cold front moved in from the west and met up with the rains turning the rain into snow. Then the low pressure system that moved in wrapped itself around the hurricane. Name has been changed from hurricane to cyclone!

@bethofvt ~ Congratulations on your roll-over! Found out that some of those power company trucks might have been for PA. The ones crossing the state line into NJ were obviously going elsewhere, but the ones I saw closer to home could have been headed to Phila or Allentown. Later I heard our governor announce that crews were being sent from other states to help in PA. Just locally we have a lot of downed lines - mostly the result of trees falling on them.

@treasuremom ~ I remember that! Lots of babies born 9 months later! Glad to hear about how great your nephew was treated. It is esp. a tribute to New Yorkers who always get such a bad rap. A crisis seems to bring out either the best or worst in people. Wow, never thought about the key cards or not being allowed into the hotel. I hope this time around hotels would learned from history and have printed out hardcopy so that they could verify at the door that you had a reservation there. At least that way they could be in the lobby and if a larger hotel the bar and restaurant and meeting rooms. As I mentioned earlier, Swifty knows a lot more people from his floor and in his building now since they all gathered in the lobby. As far as a party atmosphere, Swifty said that all of his friends were posting on facebook that they were going out to get hurricane supplies - at the liquor store!

@mysteryhorse & @justmim ~ Thanks, very much appreciated. Never know if one is talking to the wind or not. I know I am not good at commenting on each and every post but I do try to acknowledge people in a positive way when I have time.

mysteryhorse The waves on Lake Michigan were huge. I couldn't believe it when I saw people out surfing!

    @collectibles4utwo ~ A belated Happy Birthday!

@bookbase ~ I was thinking of your cottage too, but then I remembered what you said last year and seeing the pixs. Yeah, trees falling are the biggest concern. hahaha re: Seems funny to see my name mentioned so often and the good thing is that those posts carry nice thoughts and words! 😉 Wouldn't want it the opposite way!

@salmegal ~ So nice to hear from you! Thanks for the update. Wish you would stop in more often.

@stamphick ~ Wow, had not heard that one. Can't wait to tell DH and Swifty or are you pulling our collective legs? Have you heard from you DD? I forget the timetable. Is she on her great adventure?

@lookwhatbobfound ~ Sorry to hear about your nephew, wife and the baby! Hopefully they can get to a shelter.

@dianecox ~ I know how much you enjoy opera and thought you would be interested to know that my younger son in Vancouver went to see his first opera this past Sunday. I am looking forward to chatting with him next week to see what he thought. He lives 3 blocks from the Arts Center so thought he would give opera a try. He was going to see La Boheme. When I asked him if he knew what it was about or had he looked it up so that he knew, he replied, " 'Rent' is based on it, so yes I have an idea of what it is about."

Oh @dolores1953 that is so sweet of you to say!

  • @dianecox Diane , True enough I sometimes let the setting wander off a bit but usually recognize that after one or two shots. I use the one that says " For general picture taking with access to all capture settings."
@mysteryhorse Frustrating it is and even more so because I think you have to pay the FVFs on a transaction.

  • @mysteryhorse Congratulations. I would have loved to watch the race but I do not have the proper plug ins installed on my new computer. I'll never forget the only race horse that anyone in my family ever had any part of . This was in about 1940 in California . I think the horse's name was Dick Nashipur. My brother acquired him in one of his crazy deals. The horse won the race and then promptly died but not before my brother got his picture made with him. With some of the winnings my DSIL got a new fur jacket. My DSIL sent the jacket to me when I was a freshmen in college in 1948.

  • @mysteryhorse I think Teague would have been there in the late 50s and early 60s. When we moved away from that small town I lost touch with his parents.

  • @mysteryhorse When you were at Albion was there and instructor in the music department named Teague ? He was probably way before you time but when we lived in a very small town in north Iowa the lady who often bbay set for us had a son who was teaching at Albion.

  • @mysteryhorse --- Thank you so much. I didn't have to dig too far before finding a phone number but didn't have to use it as DGD told me how to accomplish what needed to be done through My eBay.

@maureen14 --- I get lots of help from strangers when I am out and about. I have been told more than once that the helper just hopes that somebody will do the same for his/her grandparent or mother. Not sure that your news is really good news but glad that you'll be getting some in home care.

Hope all of you have a great evening and an even better tomorrow.

  • @dainisjg , Jim- I, too, laughed a lot at your comments about getting a good picture and life with your wife. Of course I have always enjoyed your posts.

@mysteryhorse And loved your posts about buying part interest in a race horse. And your picture. I assume that the horse in the picture is part yours. How many hands high are you?

Many years ago my brother fell into a deal where he bought a race horse. If I recall correctly the horses name was Dick Nashipur. The horse won the race and my brother immediately sold him. But somewhere in our family there is a picture of my brother holding the reins of said horse. I think that he bought his wife a fur piece with part of the winnings.

I have a couple of high school annuals. Have been trying to find Seth Poppel to verify if there are any famous persons in these annuals. I sent an email to his aol.com address but have had no response. In other inquiries he has responded very quickly. Any information on how I could find him.? I did Google.

@dianecox I have been really troubled about your sister's health problems. I think that I was not around when you first mentioned her illness . But have gathered from more recent comments that she had brain surgery.

  • @mysteryhorse: THNX for the info. It's not like anything else I've seen!
